17.01.2022 Local non-profit Community Foods launching Crowd-funding Campaign! 20 years ago, Community Foods started with a single table at Rusty's markets. Still operated by volunteers, our co-op has had a lasting home at 74 Shields St for 10 years. The original vision to provide organic, unpackaged bulk foods to the local community has been upheld all these years by our loyal volunteers and customers. Despite all the support, it's become clear that we need to innovate, change and invig...orate who we are, what we stand for and what we do together as a community. We have decided to raise funds for radical new improvements to make the co-op bigger and better than ever. To achieve this, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign with an initial target of $20,000. Please help us to spread the word. Start the conversation, come to the shop. Please ask questions, share your ideas, or join the team to help amplify the events for this crowdfunding campaign. The official launch of our campaign starts on Tuesday 14th of November at the Cairns Community Kitchen. There will be music, special guests and of course, beautiful food. Now if some turn up please sit and meet and discuss the Community Kitchen and what you would want to bring to it.... SO. The First meeting of the Cairns Community Kitchen is open to all that wish to be involved and will be catered dinner/meet at Pauli Christie's house on Friday 20th come from 6 (meeting 7.30 -8.30 max). 07.01.2022 hey, everyone. if you went to Coalescence Festival last year, you've probably heard of Regrowth Music Festival 2017. if you haven't, regrowth is the event that was coalescence's inspiration! regrowth is in a wee bit of financial trouble and needs our help. music evens with a legit social and ecological conscience are few and far between, so when they come along we really need to nourish them. Cairns Community Kitchen is raising money to help regrowth regrow. This is a call out for people to get more involved in the kitchen this year We are looking for people that are able to commit to helping coordinate the kitchen (about) once a month. This may sound scary but behind the scenes of kitchen is a rad, supportive team and you don't need any amazing skills/ prior experience, just the passion for CCK to continue and some time.
