24.01.2022 Heads up for anyone on NBN Skymuster Satellite... There is a current network issue affecting some services from working. The issues may present as one of the following: 1. White Pulsing light on your LTSS modem; or... 2. Blue light on your LTSS modem, but unable to connect to your provider. The issue is currently being investigated by Ericsson and engineers. We are advised to leave LTSS modems switched on, as they anticipate it will self resolve. If your service has not restored by late Monday, refer the matter to your internet provider for esculation. If your LTSS modem displays a RED light, turn it off for 30 minutes then back on again. The LTSS modem is the one pictured in this post. This outage does not affect any other NBN services.

20.01.2022 For all of our NBN SkyMuster Satellite users. Many of you may have been told of these events when your service was installed! It is nothing out of the ordinary. Your Satellite unit will simply display a white flashing light which may become solid red after 15 mins. If it turns red, simply turn the unit off for 15 mins, It will be normal again afterwards.

20.01.2022 Called out to a job today where the business was having issues with its CCTV network. Several cameras not working! Upon inspection and fault finding it was safe to conclude that whoever did this installation should not be installing such equipment! Outdoor cameras wired into PVC boxes mounted below the cameras with holes drilled into them to insert the cables, however not sealed from water ingress! The outcome was cable connections carrying 24V becoming saturated with wat...er, and no drainage! Thankfully a simple case or replacing the data sockets, patch leads and re-terminating the incoming data cable. This could have easily shorted out the electronics in the cameras, or even caused damage to the network switch they were connected to. Thankfully for our client this wasn’t the case. Be aware who who you use to do your CCTV and Alarm system installations! Make sure your installer can show you their workmanship! Make sure they are a licenced security installer! Better yet, get in touch with us - we have been installing CCTV for over 15yrs! Images are of the damages found today!

20.01.2022 *** UPDATE *** Services restored 1:30pm Some of u may already know, but for those that are not yet aware, there is an internet outage affecting customers on all providers using the AAPT wholesale network. Sadly this is outage also affects our partner provider ANT Communications among others. ... All we know at this stage is that the service outage is somewhere north of Rockhampton as services are working fine south of there. The only new info we have is that it is believed to be caused by a Fibre link somewhere and Engineers are working to resolve the issue. At this stage no ETA is available. Your internet will automatically reconnect once services are restored. Please remain patient!

18.01.2022 Today Pete and Tom were out on a Banana farm in the Palmerston region south of Cairns. The mission - to deploy a Multi-Point Airbridge solution between several buildings across varying distances! The primary purpose of this task was for our client to share their new high speed SkyMuster Plus satellite internet connectivity between sites, (where other services are not available) and further by linking sites, aid in office productivity, and also manage control systems such as... irrigation and pumps! It was a great day, though hot, and hard work, but the end result was worth it for our client. Now they can also seemlessy expand their CCTV system, offer wifi to their staff via long range access points installed, as well as share network resources and also integrate IP phone solutions across their sites - saving $$$ on telephone costs! For those wondering what an Airbridge is: An Airbridge is basically a secure wirless link between two or more locations - ideal for where locations are too far apart to install cabling. Airbridges act kind of like a back-haul for network connections from one location to another, from where additional connections can be added (access points, cameras, computers etc). Typical enterprise level Airbridges can offer communication distance from 1km to 15km, with more commercial grade equipment capable of exceeding 100km! Speeds capable and bandwidth will vary based on equipment used, however there is always a solution to suit any need! Just ask us! Regional Technology Solutions - Your experts in anything IT and network communications! 07 4222-1111

15.01.2022 Our recent deployment to Kowanyama and Yarrabah has made the Courier Mail!!! Chris and Tom off to Thursday Island on Friday this coming week to bring them online too! Having a blast, and really glad to be supporting such a worthy cause!

13.01.2022 As part of our commitment to the NBN, yesterday Tom and Chris were in Kowanyama (remote aboriginal community in the Cape York Peninsular region). We were there to install a high speed satellite NBN connection in conjunction with the Johnathan Thurston Academy at the Koyanyama recreational centre. The purpose was to assist in helping get the important health messages into the communities and engaging the local youth, as well as providing access to community WiFi We were wonderfully taken care of by the fantastic crew on our Skytrans flight along the way, and we have to also say thanks to all the locals and youth whom came to visit and learn about what we were doing! You're all lovely people!!

12.01.2022 Pete and Tom, just spent the last 3 days covering the outback between Cairns and Kowanyama, as well as north to Palmer River to install essential satellite communications equipment at the Queensland Police COVID-19 Vehicle Checkpoints. In total we spent over 20hrs on the road - most of it unsealed covering in excess of 1,600km! The sights are truly magical along the way

12.01.2022 Things you need to know about Windows 10 May 2019 Update ! A new release of Windows 10 update has been confirmed by Microsoft for late May. This update will be one of the major upgrades for Microsoft’s Windows 10. It’s set to address some of the biggest annoyances of this OS platform, but there are few things you need to know before updating. 1. Sometimes, Windows Update can cause bugs, data loss, and failures. With the May 2019 update, Users will be able to pause both featur...e and monthly updates. A pause will last seven days, and then users will be able to renew that for up to five times. After 35 days, you will have to update before you can pause again. It is making a big change to the rollout method so that it is no longer automatically downloaded to your PC. 2. Another big change is the separation of Cortana and Search in the Windows 10 taskbar. In previous releases, both were integrated with each other. Now, the search box in the taskbar will exclusively launch searches for files and documents, and the circular Cortana icon will instead trigger the digital assistant. 3. Start menu changed. After you install this update, you will notice that it has only a single column on start menu, plus fewer preinstalled apps and live tiles. You can also now remove more of the stock Windows 10 Apps that you do not use. 4. Systems with small hard drives will not be able to install Windows 10 May 2019 update. Previously, a 32-bit Win10 had a minimum storage requirement of 16GB, and a 64-bit Win10 needed 20GB. That minimum value has now been bumped up to 32GB for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows. If you have a computer with a small hard disk (such as a ultra portable laptop with a small eMMC disk), it will present problems. This update will also reserve 7GB of disk space for installing general updates. Designed to keep your PC secure, and efficient with the latest Windows Updates, this new space cannot be removed from Windows 10. It also for use by apps, temporary files, and system caches as your PC sees the need. The size of the reserve depends on your system, so you might want to consider removing some files on your hard drive to prepare. 5. Microsoft has confirmed that certain Windows 10 based computers will not be able to upgrade to the May 2019 update if they have either an external USB device or SD memory card attached. Otherwise you will see an error message stating that "This PC can't be upgraded to Windows 10." Because "inappropriate drive reassignment" might occur and could impact both external devices and internal hard drives. As a workaround, users will need to remove any USB thumb drives, USB-based external hard drives or SD cards and restart the update. This error actually won't pop up if you're on a build prior to the April 2018 Update (Ver 1803) or the October 2018 Update (Ver 1809), so if you haven't updated in awhile, it actually benefits you in this case. I hope this information will be helpful.
