16.01.2022 BIG NEWS!!!!! **COVID-19 UPDATE** We have successfully obtained a permit and will be operating our beloved Cairns Cooktown Express bus service two days a week. This will be the same service you're used to, same pick up schedule, but will be limited to run on Mondays and Thursdays only. We look to commence on Monday, 6th April 2020. IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING YOUR SEAT:... NORTH BOUND PASSENGERS: 1) Those wishing to travel north will be required to obtain a permit from the Cooktown Police. Police are stationed at Palmer River and you will NOT be able to travel past their roadblock if you do not hold a permit. 2) Those without a permit will be required to disembark the bus at Palmer River. 3) There will be no refunds offered for those who are not permitted beyond Palmer River. You are responsible to ensure you have obtained the appropriate paperwork from the Cooktown Police before you travel. 4) Those who are not permitted past Palmer River, you will need to either book and pay for a seat with us on our return run in the afternoon back to Cairns (pending our availability), or you will need to find accommodation or arrange alternative transport, at your own expense. 5) No responsibility will be taken by Cairns Cooktown Express for any unsuccessful attempts to travel beyond Palmer River. SOUTH BOUND PASSENGERS: 1) Currently, there are no restrictions for those travelling south. ALL PASSENGERS: 1) Prepayment only; due to Covid-19 we will not be accepting cash on boarding. Thank you for your understanding. 2) We will be running with reduced seating. There will only be 9 seats available per direction. Please note that the seat immediately beside the driver, and the two seats immediately behind the driver, are to remain vacant. 3) Please ring between the hours of 10:00am to 15:00 to book your seat. 12.01.2022 We understand that there is some concern about our service continuing operations to the Cook Shire, and as such we would like to clarify the service that we will be offering. When we commence on Monday with our limited service, we will be transferring Cook Shire locals only. People from the Cook Shire community whom are trying to return home to join their families. All passengers will hold permits granted to them by the Cooktown police*. These permits state that each indivi...dual passenger has been in quarantine for the past 14 days. Anyone without a permit will not be allowed to travel, as our drivers will not allow these passengers to board at their pick up point. Police will then review all permits at Palmer River. Please know we take the health and safety of our drivers, our passengers, and the Cook Shire population very seriously. If you have any concerns about our service, please contact the Cooktown Police.
