24.01.2022 It’s with a heavy heart that we must cancel Cairns Festival for 2020. Ongoing uncertainty around limits on public gatherings has forced Cairns Regional Council to cancel this year’s Festival. As government restrictions ease ticketed contact tracing will be essential for events, this means large free events, such as Cairns Festival, would unlikely be able to proceed. ... We hope we can be back bigger and bolder than ever in 2021.

24.01.2022 WHAT'S ON GUIDE - DAY 8 The final weekend of Cairns Festival 2019 kicks off today! Film-goers are invited to bring their picnic rug and goodies to enjoy the original screening of Mary Poppins from 7pm on the Cairns Esplanade.... Cairns Festival will take over the Tanks Arts Centre in Edge Hill, with two free events on offer. The far north’s most promising visual art students and Cairns’ best dancers will be on display as part of the respective 2019 ENERGY Exhibition and You Should Be Dancing events. Taking place from 7pm on both Friday 30 and Saturday 31 August, You Should Be Dancing is an all-inclusive, participatory, large-scale dance event that takes audiences through Cairns’ history; but don't expect to just watch the dancing! The event starts off with a short 'learn the moves' segment in which everyone will come together at the end and perform the dance in this epic dance party event. Over at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre at 8pm, the award-winning Circa Contemporary Circus presents Peepshow, a daring show that combines some of the finest acrobatic talent on the planet to create an exhilarating ride that lurches from the thrillingly acrobatic to the comically playful. Tickets available through Ticketlink. View the program to see other Festival events to come: https://www.cairns.qld.gov.au/festival/Eprogram
