24.01.2022 Hello everyone. The RSL opened it's doors again in July and so we're back. To minimise student / teacher contact time a new short course has been approved with the trade off being 3 hours of 'online' homework must be completed before spending 3 hours, instead of 8, with me at the RSL. The powers-to-be have decided to keep this short course open as an ongoing option for students who want to attend a refresher course but are strapped for time. It's especially handy for those who've attended many courses before and already have a good understanding of First Aid and CPR. Here are some pics of those who attended on the 10th of July. Many thanks to Hans, Sharon, Brooke, Judith, Dillon, Ben, Graham, Wes, Jacinta, Claudia, Rikki, Sarah and Francis. Many thanks to everyone.

24.01.2022 First Aid Training is back on!! Hello everyone. Isn't it amazing how our lives can be turned upside down so quickly? The good news is, if you need First Aid training we can still help you out. The courses have been re-vamped. We have only 2 people to a course and they only have to spend 30 minutes with me. That's all. The trade off is they have to do some online homework to make up for the theory they I would have normally covered. So, if you or a friend still require training, give us a call. Cheers from Gary.

22.01.2022 I hear many stories describing the paralysing fear, confusion and doubt that some people experience when confronted with a medical emergency. First Aiders are not Health Care professionals and rarely see the terrible trauma caused by accidents, and so it's no wonder that when an Aider comes face to face with a person's exposed and bloody bone that they may feel unsettled, especially when screaming and hysteria are thrown into the mix. And although the guidelines for performin...g First Aid are simple, getting one's head around them isn't, not when your confronted with such a situation. And the situation usually presents itself within the blink of an eye. So what do we do when confronted with an emergency? Simply do the best you can and remember to stop the bleed and call 000. If you find that you simply can't help, don't ever lay a guilt trip on yourself. After all, this is not what we typically do and this type of situation can unsettle the best of us. Be very forgiving of yourself and if needed, get counselling. Tuesday the 13th saw another bundle of brave First Aiders pour out onto the streets of Cairns from the RSL to do what they can for those who need help. Many thanks to Rhyan, Hannah, Chris, Shaun, Serena, Julie, Jason, Makayla, Lachlan, Shane, Ronald, Caitlin, David, Bianca, Weng, Thelma, Crystal, Cara, Chanel, Kate, Sarah, Paul, Leeann, Kirsty, Adrian, Emma, Lucy, Mick, Nenja, Olive, Jane, Simon, Koby, Bernie, Jason, Damian, Daniel, Jordan, Lyndon, Anthony, Stacey and Patricia. Well done each and everyone of you. Cheers from Gary. See more

22.01.2022 JCU Dental students in their 3rd year of misery are getting closer to the end. But remember everyone, these are the best years of your life, you just don't know it yet. Many thanks to all of you, especially Roshni and Michael who went to great lengths to organise 30 plus students to turn up for First Aid training after a number of them spent a night partying ... didn't they, Roshni :) ! Have a great break everyone and keep yourselves safe and alive. See you all next year. Cheers from Gary.

18.01.2022 A helpful hint ... try not to be more than we are supposed to be which is First Aiders. And remember that all you are required to do is ... CPR Stop a Bleed Call 000.... There's no point in getting fancy, just be effective. Stick to those 3 guidelines and you should get through what is usually an uncomfortable situation. Many thanks to the students on the 24th of Feb and in particular the staff of PCYC and the Torres Straight Youth Program. Cheers to Katherine, Donna, Lency, Hassan, Shiela, Michael, Brancis, George, Emily, Madeleine, Alfred, Paul, Shane, Adrian, Sarah, Amee, Stephen, Gemma, Michelle, Jacqueline, cheery, Guy, and Tim. Many thanks, everyone, from Gary.

12.01.2022 I've had some kind comments come my way recently and I want everyone to know that I really do appreciate your wonderful words. It's hard to keep repeating the same information over and over again for years on end, and sometimes it gets a bit much. But with your generousity of spirit it helps my keep kicking along. And so, another course done and dusted on the 27th of Sept, 2019, and another group of First Aiders sent out on their way. Many thanks to Kaya, Jennifer, Natalie, Linda, Kerry, Shannon, Melissa, Trish, David, Gabrielle, Mark, Nakita, Margaret, Gary, Tylissa and Mark. Many thanks to you all. Well done.

11.01.2022 ALL FIRST AID COURSES ARE POSTPONED We received notification yesterday morning advising us to cancel all classes. We understand that this is a terrible inconvenience to everyone and we’re also concerned for the possible consequences this may have on your employment, but we have no say in the matter and public safety must take precedence over other considerations. The moment we’re allowed to resume training we shall let you know. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this will cause and wish you the best in these difficult and trying times.

03.01.2022 Please read this and understand that we have to stop governments from refusing to tell us what they do with our money. Taxpayer money goes to aged care. The companies that receive the money don't have to reveal how they spend the money and, if you've be listening to the news, not much of the money that you and I pay in taxes, actually goes to our aged. Remember this ... one day you'll be the aged, and the care you get ... will depend on what we do to pull the government back in line. You can't just do nothing. See more
