25.01.2022 Just a little update on the Amphan recovery project which is supported by CIA . Mukti has identified the 50 beneficiaries. Here are a picture from the meeting conducted this week. Money has been transferred to 19 women so far. Rest will be done soon. They will send us project reports periodically.

23.01.2022 We would like to thank the Mukthi organisation of India in giving us an opportunity to support the people who have been affected by Cyclone Amphan in West Bengal state of India .

23.01.2022 gf.me/u/x5qnqs Dear CIA Members and Friends, Millions of people in the State of West Bengal and Orissa are facing increased threat to hunger, poverty, homelessness and vulnerability due to Category 5 Cyclone Amphan that has hit and devastated the coastal regions of these two states on the 20th May 2020... Families and people that are already facing multiple concurrent crises with the onset of COVID 19 are now suffering from being hit by Cyclone Amphan. Amphan has had devastating affects to humans and the environment. And as we speak, there are thousands dying of hunger, poverty, homelessness and disease. Cairns Indian Association has mustered the courage and support to work on a humble project called Build Back Better in conjunction with Cairns Bongo Group and Mukti Foundation to re-build 50 roofs for houses in the region for families to return to and live. The aim of the project is to build 50 roofs in this region for families who are currently sheltering in schools and other shelters in dangerously crowded and unhygienic spaces risking fast spread of COVID. Having a roof has become even more imperative, as in a month the Sunderbans will face the start of the monsoon season followed by tidal surges, storms and heavy rainfall, thus further deteriorating an already impoverished people. Hence the immediate and urgent need to re-build houses. The total cost of this project is 5 Lakhs Indian Rupees, which brings it to Rs. 10,000 per household. The money raised will go to the fiscal branch of a Women’s Group of Mukti Community Development Fund. This Fund will distribute Rs 10,000 as a loan to 50 households at no interest. Beneficiaries of loans are expected to pay back a certain amount every month that goes back into the Fund pool that will further fund sustainable disbursal of future livelihood loans to these women’s groups. Friends, we can achieve this together! Collective Strength and Support is the only way forward and upward. Your kind support will build stronger and more resilient communities.

22.01.2022 Kindly consider donating if you haven’t done so yet. Thanks
