25.01.2022 International Day for People with Disability Hundreds of No Limits Judo players with Disabilities from around Australia have shown that despite this year’s chal...lenges, their fighting spirit is strong, and we celebrate their achievements on International Day of People with Disability. No Limits Judo specialises in the coaching and competition of players with a disability or additional needs and aims to challenge the way people think about themselves, about disability, and provide an inclusive martial arts training environment. No Limits Judo Australia Chair, Cliff Illingworth said he was pleased to see an increasing number of players with a disability included in the sport and encouraged the growth of No Limits friendly clubs around the country. Cliff said We now have No Limits Judo representatives and clubs in every state and territory in Australia with hundreds of members now training and competing. No Limits classes are adapted to the individual needs and capabilities of players with coaches working closely with players, their guardians and carers to ensure coaching allows students to develop and grow at their pace and within their capabilities. We encourage and support all judo clubs around Australia to open their doors to players with a disability or additional needs and to seek support from the No Limits committee around training requirements and resources. Sport Australia AusPlay survey results in 2016 showed that people with a disability are 10% less likely to participate in sport or active recreation at least once per week, when compared to the general population. This is not because of lack of demand. In addition to this, research by Sport Australia in 2010 suggested that 75% of people with a disability who play sport want to play more, and that 83% of people who are inactive want to get active. Mr. Illingworth said that although 2020 has provided its fair share of barriers to the sport, it was exciting to see children and adults continuing to train and sign up as restrictions ease, to see them gain new skills and staying connected to the judo community. 09.01.2022 When one explains judo in the strict sense, as the way which consists of using in the most effective way the physical and spiritual force in a perspective of attack and defence, its ambition is after all quite simple. But when one explains judo in the broad sense, as the way which consists of using in the most effective way possible the physical and spiritual force to apply it to all areas, the task of teaching it does not become easy. What teachers must avoid above all is to repeat flatly the few explanations which appear in the 'doctrine' section of their manual"
