20.01.2022 A half-day photo tour with Jemma on the beaches south of Port Douglas and in the tropical rainforest. Jemma really wanted to improve her landscape photography skills, shoot more comfortably in manual mode and learn how to use filters for more photographic opportunities. We were lucky with some lovely sunrise colour and ideal conditions for shooting in the rainforest.

18.01.2022 We recently visited the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas and were really impressed by the diverse range of wildlife they had in their spacious surrounds. It lends itself to getting natural-style pics of the animals... so much so, that we've arranged to offer a Wildlife Photography Workshop at the Habitat. If you've ever wanted to photograph wildlife, but were unsure of the best gear and camera settings to do this, this workshop is ideal!

06.01.2022 A couple of pics from yesterday's full day photo tour... starting with sunrise south of Cairns and then heading for a bit of nature on the Atherton Tablelands... we hit some very wet weather near Millaa Millaa, but managed some good conditions either side of that. Thanks to Natasha & Jordan!

06.01.2022 A couple of images from the weekend's field shoot to wrap up the July "Discover Digital SLR Photography" course in Cairns! Though we had a few students who were unable to make the field shoot, we had a great afternoon - put everything learnt in the classroom into hands-on practice. We covered shooting portraits, moving subjects, landscapes and night photography, with plenty of location shooting tips.

Although DSLR is in the title, we cover a range of different cameras in this course, including mirrorless and hybrid cameras (generally with interchangeable lenses)! Get hands on with your camera and finally learn how to get the best out of it!

Cairns, Queensland, Australia Photography Tip: Rainy or overcast days are perfect for getting out and chasing waterfalls in North Queensland... the flatter light allows for more even exposures. Use a polarising filter (CPL) to enable longer shutter speeds for that soft, silky look, as well as to reduce the glare off the water & rocks. Camera Settings:... 05.01.2022 We had our Waterfalls Workshop on the Atherton Tablelands yesterday... it was a good chance to get to grips with the best shutter speeds for capturing falls, the use of filters and thinking about more creative compositions.
