18.01.2022 Job done! Maintenance works on the 59-year-old Green Island public jetty are now finished and doesn't it look inviting? The project took about six months and r...equired repairs to the underside of the concrete wharf, as well as to a number of concrete piles. Contractors SRG moved off the island today and some plant and materials will be removed over the next few weeks but will not affect operators or tourists. See more

15.01.2022 Extreme Weather Event - Phase 1 - Prevention. The Regional Harbour Master has advised that a weather event is likely to affect the ports of Cairns, Mourilyan, Port Douglas, Cooktown and Cape Flattery within the next 48 hours. Ports North customers should review your safety plans and address any outstanding matters. The Extreme Weather Event plan is available on the MSQ website: www.msq.qld.gov.au
06.01.2022 Sea trials yesterday with two of our SV14s in gusty conditions. These boats are fantastic! I sailed the Ports North boat, which has the fixed (non canting) seats, and felt comfortable and secure at all angles of heel. Might be spinnaker time on Thursday
05.01.2022 Ports North civil engineers, Michael Martin and Frank Spannenburg accept the Australian Engineers Excellence Award, Queensland, from the Queensland Joint Deputy... President Joseph Tam. 05.01.2022 It was great to see so many enthusiastic students from the University of Queensland's Sustainable Development course visiting the Port of Cairns on Friday after...noon to learn about some of our fantastic environmental management initiatives and operations at our ports. They gathered at our award-winning heritage listed Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal where PN environment manager Adam Fletcher presented plenty of information on the important role Ports play in balancing the social, economic and environmental drivers on behalf of key industries and stakeholders and the community in the Cairns region. Thanks to Dr Paul Dennis for thinking of our port for his students. See more
04.01.2022 Andy Rokstad and Sarah Toxward take their cleaning duties to another level with their tinny 'Sparky' at the Cairns Marlin Marina!
03.01.2022 As a sign of respect to Billy Billson, a legend of the game fishing industry and a long term customer of the Cairns Marlin Marina, the flag will be flown at half-mast today to mark his passing. Billy Billson and his vessel Viking II have been coming to Cairns each year to fish the black marlin season for as long as we can remember.
02.01.2022 Not to be outdone by the naturally pristine waters surrounding the Port of Cairns in Far North Queensland, Marlin Marina staff are fanatical when it comes to keeping their facility spotless. Nothing gets past Marina manager Andy Rokstad and customer service officer Sarah Toxward, who took the Ports North tinny, "sparky", out to clean up around the fingers. Nicely done.
01.01.2022 It's great to get out on the water and trying the S/V14
01.01.2022 We are very pleased to announce Ports North has won an Australian Engineering Excellence Award Queensland for its Cairns Shipping Development Project. This was... a highly innovative engineering infrastructure initiative in a sensitive environment and we are proud of the ground-breaking research and methodology adopted to make it happen. The CSD Project deepened and widened the shipping channel into the Port of Cairns, enabling mega cruise ships up to 300 metres in length, as well as larger naval and cargo vessels, to safely enter the harbour. It also sensitively upgraded six heritage-listed wharves to protect and strengthen their capabilities and upgraded two swing basins. It was the first time dredge material of this scale was placed on land. A huge thank you goes out to the very capable contractors and consultants such as BMT, RN Dredging, Hall Contracting, AECOM, Austral Construction, Golders, Flanagan Consulting and Douglas Partners who assisted in the delivery of this complex and challenging project - the largest undertaken at the port. #portsaustralia See more
