14.01.2022 School holidays are here again and you know what that means? We’re going skating!! Not! .... Now that’s just plain unfair. Sunday afternoons at the Cairns Skating Centre are usually a big family get together, usually the skating rink is jampacked with people from all ages having great fun. Shrieks of joy, laughter, smiles and skating action. Yep, Sunday afternoons at the #Skating Centre are all about families, friendships and our community........ But, sadly due to #coronavirus as you know we’ve had to suspend our community get-togethers.... The really good news is dear friends it won’t be long before we open our doors once again, we’ll flick all the switches and the Skating Centre will burst open and spring to life once again. But until we meet again at the rink please take care of everyone, be kind and considerate, be thoughtful and patient, be gentle, be loving and helpful around the home. Keep your eye on our Facebook page over next couple weeks we’ll try and help with the boredom with some funny posts and photos. If you have any photos you’ve taken at the rink in the last couple of years or so please send them to us and we’ll put them on a slideshow for others to see, thanks everyone keep safe.

14.01.2022 The Committee of the skating rink are working very hard to have the rink open asap. Due to administration issues that are taking longer than expected, we do not believe the rink will be open until August. We are aware everyone wants to get back to the rink but we need to address all the administration issues before reopening. Thank you for your patience.

10.01.2022 Hi skate mates, we're so sorry the Skating Centre has closed due to you know what. School holidays won't be the same without the rink being open. Everyone has been profoundly impacted by this health crisis, including our fantastic staff at the Skating Centre who have unfortunately lost their income due to the Centre closing. A special message of thanks to all of our staff for the great work you've done. ... Keep safe, keep your distance. Here's a few skate jokes to keep your spirits up.... How many skaters does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but about 20 tries. What is the hardest part about learning inline skating? The ground! One for the Artistic Skaters... "If figure skating was easy, they'd call it hockey" Cat Heaven One day, a cat dies of natural causes and goes to heaven, where he meets the Lord Himself. The Lord says to the cat, "You lived a good life, and if there is any way I can make your stay in heaven more comfortable, please let me know." The cat thinks for a moment and says, "Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor." The Lord stops the cat and says, "Say no more," and a wonderful, fluffy pillow appears. A few days later, six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident, and all of them go to heaven. Again, the Lord is there to greet them with the same offer. The mice answer, "All our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. Running, running, running; we're tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so that we don't have to run anymore?" The Lord says, "Say no more" and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates. About a week later, the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him snoozing on the pillow. The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, "How are things since you got here?" The cat stretches and yawns, then replies, "It is wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And those 'Meals On Wheels' you've been sending by are the best!"

06.01.2022 The Cairns Skating Centre is suspending all operations from today until further notice. All public skating sessions and roller sports activities are suspended for an indefinite time. All staff are advised due to the suspension of activities you are not required for work until further notice.... Due to new regulations coming into force as a directive of the federal government regarding Corona virus social isolation and gatherings of 100 people or more can no longer take place. This has resulted in the full closure of the Skating Centre. Please get the word out.
