24.01.2022 WE ARE TAKING A BREAK! Due to the current national issues, plus over half of our committee have other commitments that take them away from Cairns on a regular basis. Cairns Toastmasters Committee has made the decision to suspend all meetings for a period of 6 months. Other clubs in Cairns are continuing, so please Google 'Toastmasters in Cairns' to check them out. During this period, if you need to contact this club, please do do by email - [email protected]

22.01.2022 What!!!!!! You want me to talk IN PUBLIC!!!!!!

22.01.2022 LATEST NEWS UPDATE: 23rd May At Wednesday nights meeting , after much discussion, the club voted to suspend meetings until further notice. The main reason being that quite a few members have issues with decent wi-fi, or do not have the technical knowledge to allow them to access the online meetings. We are hopeful that the RSL will open in the not to distant future so we can get back to face to face meetings. The committee will continue to meet every month to assess the sit...uation. If you want to connect with Cairns Toastmasters for any reason, please do so by sending a message through the Blue Button at the top of the page, or email us at: [email protected] WE WILL BE BACK!! 19.01.2022 Hi to everyone. Its March 26th, and for those that don't know, the RSL, where we hold our meetings, has closed. What does this mean for the club? It means that Cairns Toastmasters is going 'ONLINE!!' Your Committee decided that in the spirit of supporting our members, we will trial meetings run entirely online. Possible platforms are being investigated. So far the issue will be monies. Free platforms are not reliable and have constant drop out issues, which means for this... to be successful for the club, we shall have to pay a monthly/yearly fee. This needs to be discussed by the committee. I don't think 'online' will be running for the next meeting on 1st April, but we should be right for the 15th. If you have any questions, hit the blue 'Send Message' button just below the header image. Further info will be sent out via the 'easy Speak' email. See more

11.01.2022 Renewable Energy was the theme for last nights meeting, and we all came away with the slogan 'Flick it off & save!!' Most devices/appliances continue to consume electricity when not in use. Save $$$$ by flicking the wall switch to OFF!! The energy of our new members is incredible, and there are many rising stars amongst them. We had a visiting Area Director from the Lockyer Valley, Carol, who jumped in and helped out. Thxs Carol. We were also visited by our own Area Dir...ector who was picked on throughout the night. No hard feelings Greg!! Well done to newbie Shelly who took out Best Speaker in only her 2nd speech. Stewart had the double with Best Table Topics & Best Evaluator. If you want to learn Public Speaking in a fun, friendly way, then come and join us at the RSL on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Wednesday of the month. 6.45pm for a 7pm start. 03.01.2022 We are bacccccckkkkkkkkk!! First meeting of 2020. What a year this is going to be. Everything that is happening in the world right now, was totally forgotten as visitors and guests took out all the awards for the night!! That will be a record that lasts a while! In the pic from the left we have Julius. A Toastmaster just moved here took out the Best Speech. Bethany ( a guest with her mum Sharne ) shared Best Table Topic with Danette,( Toastmaster from another club ) and... Sharne was the Best Evaluator. Thanks to everyone else for stepping up at the last minute to get all the roles filled. That's what Toastmasters is all about, flexability! Lots of laughter, 3 excellent speeches, and some great Table Topics made it a great start to the year. So if you, or anyone you know has a wedding speech, a Uni presentation, has to give lectures, or is in a leadership role that requires talking to staff, and is scared or Public Speaking, or just lacks a bit of confidence..................Cairns Toastmaster is the place to be. You will be mentored by an Advanced member, and learn the skills of how to put a speech together, and then, how to present with confidence. 1st, 3rd & 5th Wednesday of the month at the RSL on the Esplanade. 6.45pm on the first floor. 02.01.2022 First meeting of the 2019/20 year and the beginning for the new committee. We wish them well. Rather quiet meeting due to the school holidays. Many newbies stepped up to fill roles for the first time. Well done & thxs to all. Phil & Sam shares the top spot for Table Topics, and are seen here blatantly advertising the Cairns Entertainment Book. Preparing for upcoming weddings and presentations seems to be bringing people to the club at the moment. So if your one of those, or are just immensely scared of public speaking, come along on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Wednesday of the month and see how much fun it really is. https://3779.toastmastersclubs.org/

02.01.2022 We began the Road To Recovery last night by laying new, strong foundations for the future of Cairns oldest Toastmaster club, founded on May 1st 1964. We did not schedule a program for the night. We just wanted to gather and re-connect with each other. It was strange having the room set up for physical distance guidelines. It will take some getting used to! The 2 guests that turned up were greeted warmly, and had ALL of their questions answered. A unanimous decision was made t...hat we want the club to continue to grow, but we need your help for that to happen. If you have liked or followed this group already. Thank you so much, we really appreciate your support. It would help us to grow if you can Like, Love, Wow or any emoji this post. Also, if you can,, share this post, to your FB, or a page you manage. FB will see the action, and send the post to more people. There are many people out there that need Toastmaster help for an upcoming event, speech, presentation, to gain self confidence, or to improve their english. They just don't know we are here. Please help us spread the word. Thank you. See more

01.01.2022 Cairns Toastmasters goes from strength to strength. Last night 2 'newbies' paid their dues and are now members. 2 guests were so impressed, that one of them is going to drive from Port Douglas every meeting!!!!! Last nights winners were Shelly (on the right) who gave an OUTSTANDING first speech (icebreaker) Phil proposed a carrot as a new member in Table Topics (impromtu speaking) and Maxine gave the best Evaluation of the night. People use Toastmasters to help them achieve something at work, at Uni, to pass interviews, to give wedding speeches, to improve their english, or just to gain confidence in being able to talk sociably in a group. What do you need? https://3779.toastmastersclubs.org/
