24.01.2022 They don’t make them like they used to! This amazing activity cube got so much play time in our house! My 16 month old and almost 4 year old loved the peek-a-boo blocks and turn table on the top. This activity cube is now back at the toy library, ask about it next time you’re in! Recommended age: 9 months+

22.01.2022 All overdue toys that have been out while we were shut are now due back at the end of August. If you haven’t already come back to get fresh toys, book an appointment using the button at the top of our page then scroll through the page to read information on our COVID safe plan and other information you may need when visiting. We have been loving welcoming our families back to the toy library and have been so impressed with everyone’s care taken in adhering to all the requirements. Thank you all

21.01.2022 Last borrow/return day of 2020! Come get some new toys for your family to play with over the holidays. We are reopening on the 29/1/21. Thanks for all the support over the last year! We have loved meeting so many new faces and are looking forward to some exciting changes in 2021! Watch this space! We wish all of our lovely families a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

19.01.2022 SMALL R&M TASK We need this kids washing line repaired and are calling on someone with some skills with a drill and a little bit of know how. Anyone happy to take this and have a go fixing it? Send us a message!

11.01.2022 Our family managed to take home the super popular fire station for one of this month’s toys! This one is never in the toy library for long and has had so much love and hours of pretend play. The fire station comes with a fire engine, fire fighters and removable roof sections. This is definitely one of our favourite toy library items for our 3 year old boy! Have you been lucky enough to have this one in your home yet?

10.01.2022 Seeking Volunteers: Are you or someone you know handy with a hammer or drill or a bit crafty? We need you! We have had so much repair and maintenance since we have reopened and need to get our toys fixed so they can be borrowed by our lovely families again! If you can help please message us! This would meet membership requirements to complete roster duty

05.01.2022 Who knows what we’re talking about when we say MCN? The toy library is all about sustainable practices and we have been collecting some second hand modern cloth nappies to assist any families who may want to give them a go but not want to pay a whole heap of money up front. We are asking for a donation for the cloth nappies. If you want to know more send us a message. We look forward to supporting our families more in your sustainability journey.

05.01.2022 We are so excited to share that the Cairns Toy library will reopen on the 28th of July! Our community’s health and safety remain a priority to us and we have spent a lot of time planning a safe and sustainable reopening. All toy loans have extended to be up to date and all memberships have had a 3-month extension added to cover the time we were closed. Toy Libraries Australia has provided specific advice for re-opening and, there will be some changes to the way we operate. ... Here’s what you need to know: Toy library must sign in and sanitise at the PCYC reception before continuing on to the Toy Library. As always, members must clean toys before returning them. This is a requirement of us re-opening so when you return the toys, we will ask you to sign that they have been cleaned. This includes the bags and boxes. If the toys have not been cleaned, we will ask you take the toys home with you again wash them and then return them at our next opening. You can find our cleaning guidelines in the picture added below. We ask that when borrowing toys you now check toys for lost parts as soon as you get home, then message us if there are any parts missing that aren’t noted on the card. Please use hand sanitiser as you enter and maintain physical distance of 1.5m from other people. We encourage you to choose your toys and leave promptly to go home and play, as we are not able to offer a space to hang out at this stage. Please refrain from touching toys you aren’t going to take home and don’t remove toys from bags in the library. We understand this will be tough for children excited about new toys, so please chat to them about this rule and keep them close during your visit as much as you’re able. If anyone in your family is unwell (eg, vomiting, diarrhoea, respiratory infection) you must not visit the toy library. Instead contact us about extending or returning toys. We will continue to navigate these changes together and may need to make further adjustments along the way. Thank you for your continued understanding, patience, and support as we reopen for browsing and borrowing. If you have any questions, please message us. We’re excited to see you all again!
