18.01.2022 CAIRNS UKULELE CLUB THRILLS TOURISM INDUSTRY AT ATE Following an appearance at the media launch on Saturday, it was ukuleles abound again last night during the Australian Tourism Exchange welcome dinner at the Cruise Liner Terminal. The Cairns Ukulele Club, featuring the Bad Boys of Uke, greeted the thousands of guests to the spectacularly decorated terminal at the Trinity Inlet with colourful shirts, and of course, dozens of ukuleles. Over forty ukulele players sang and str...ummed , bringing smiles on the faces of the thousands interstate and international visitors entering the terminal for a spectacular dinner on the waterfront as the sun set and moon rose over the Trinity Inlet. Along with Ironman, Mountain biking, and the Great Barrier Reef, the Cairns Ukulele Festival which takes place in the first week of July - is being featured at the country's largest tourism trade show as one of the region's signature events. The Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) is Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism business-to-business event. In 2014, for the first time in its 35 year history, ATE is held in a regional centre. ATE activities and events continue until the end of this week.

14.01.2022 SOUTHSIDE UKULELE NEWS - A new ukulele gathering has started up on the Southside. They meet Saturday's 3-5pm at the Hambledon Hotel. Currently the group consists of novice players so if that's you and you'd like to join them and grow your ukulele skills by playing in a group join them this Saturday!

09.01.2022 For regular ukulele jams and meetups, there are several groups that meet on a weekly basis and anyone can join. The main book from which these groups play is the Ukulele Club Songbook. The Bad Boys of Uke host a jam session every Friday at the Crown Cairns, and Wednesday and Sunday at Beach Almond Palm Cove CHUG - Cairns Holloways Ukulele Group at Strait on the Beach meets Wednesday at Strait On The Beach at Holloways Beach.... FN Ukes meets at Marlin Coast Neighbourhood Centre every Tuesday morning at 8.30am ($2 contribution) and performs regularly at old people's homes.
