23.01.2022 Last Game of the regular season tonight. Mom's Spaghetti and Palms are Sweaty are already into the semis next week. The other 4 teams are all possible contenders and will be taking a must-win attitude into tonight's games.

23.01.2022 So after the dust has settled we have the final ladder from the regular season. First and second are equally tied between Rocket Surgeons and Brain Sturgeons, with Rocket surgeons taking the minor premiership by scoring more 'for points'. Masters of Flick have placed 3rd and Mayhem 4th, with Green Machine and Flying Saucy Tossers placing 5th and 6th. As we have had 6 teams this season we will be doing things slightly differerntly for the finals this season. So the game plan is for the top four teams to go on to play the semi finals next week with 5th and 6th having a bye. Then for the grand final night we will have three games playing out all games, playing for 5th, 3rd and 1st overall. It's a little different but hopefully this works for everyone and is something we can keep doing going forward.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to our Term 3 winners Liam Phlemsworth! The grand final was a very entertaining game featuring two veteran teams both with an infusion of young blood. Mylie Virus has re-introduced CUDL to zone defense which stiffled Flemsworth to start the game. They took an early 2-0 lead on the back of duo Jay Sansness and Alecha Piva's solid handling skills. Phlemsworth finally managed to find the endzone after many unsuccesful cross field hammers. But still down 2-4. The... next stretch was the turning point where Phlemsworth made their run. They started to find their confidence in the handler positions with veterans Dan Foster, Dean Anderson, Sarah and Austin starting to click. Millie had a couple of big grabs for tries. Dan Diblasio made an appearance and contributed steady minutes during this run. They went up 7-4 showcasing a 5 point swing which sealed the win for Phlemsworth. Final score Liam Phlesworth 8- Mylie Virus 6 or something like that... Congratulations Phlemworth on a great victory. Congrats on all new CUDL players young and old for a successful return to ultimate disk. Beach disk is on Thursday at Yorkeys Knob from 5:45pm. Monday league will return to action Monday October 12.

The season officially kicks off tonght with ... North By North East 1 vs Mayhem on field 1 and North By North East 2 vs Juicy Fruit on field 2 (check teams photo below for your colour!) Here is a snippet from last week as a refresher! Who: Cairns Ultimate Disc League Social competition What: Ultimate Disc of course! When: Games commence at 6:30-7:30 Monday nights. You can enter the field areas as of 6:05pm onwards for warm up/throw practice. The season will be ending on 14th of September Where: Kangaroos Rugby League Club. 172-184 Irene St, Mooroobool QLD 4870 What to bring: The cost is $10 per game, football boots are advised, a 1-2L personal drink bottle (trust us you will need it) and please bring two different coloured shirts (1x dark, 1x light) if you are new players to match the team you play with. Covid Awareness Guidelines Due to current safety concerns facing the world, we all need to be extra vigilant to prevent the spread of Covid and to protect all of our community members. Please follow the same procedures as last week (e.g. social distancing of 1.5m, signing in, use hand sanitiser regularly etc.) and if you are not sure please ask the friendly committee members.

15.01.2022 The final season of Cairns Ultimate 2020 kicked off last night in a culinary battle synonymous with late 90s Japanese reality TV. Breakfast took an early lead with both Toast Malone and Shaquille O’atmeal proving they may be the most important meal of the day with victories over the crazy deli meats Mayham and the sugar fuelled gum that has the taste to get you going, Juicy Fruit. Shaquille O’atmeal intends to prove it has the all day, healthy energy this season and has its e...yes set on taking down perennial breakfast favourite, Toast Malone. Toast Malone, ever versatile and universally loved, is hardly phased by this food talk. They have been a staple forever and plan on continuing. MayHam knows the history of breakfast and sees it as a symptom of the 9 to 5 grind of the capitalist dystopia we live in. They are here to shake up meal timing and go back to medieval Europe eating practices. They think the Tudors have a lot to answer for and when it comes to nutrition, Mayham happens to agree with the 13th century theologian Thomas Aquinas; it is a sin to eat early in the day. Juicy Fruit rises above the he said she said of meal timing and nutritional value. They are ready to gum up the works of the opposition and maybe force some new haircuts. Banned from most schools and Singapore, Juicy Fruit are the bright orange badasses of Cairns ultimate, barefoot water skiing over the opposition. Not concerned with empty calories, Juicy Fruit plan on never being easily removed. Next week Toast Malone takes on Juicy Fruit with Shaq O'atmeal and MayHAm fighting it out in the other game.

Date: Saturday 3rd October Event: Coach Course Foundation Level Start-End time: 9:30am - 4pm with 30mins for lunch Cost: $30 What to bring: Please bring your own lunch, sports shoes, hat and drink bottle. Location: - Redlynch State College (secondary campus oval) This program will coach beginners of all ages, teaching fundamentals and introducing non-players to the sport. Participatnts will be provided with the compliance training, interpersonal skills and low level technical development skills to deal with the groups they train and play with. 14.01.2022 CUDL finals are on tonight. Games for 5th and 3rd are on at 6:30 with the game for 1st on at 7:30. Playing for 5th we have green machine v flying saucy tossers, playing for 3rd we have rocket surgeons v masters of flick, and playing for 1st we have mayham v brain sturgeons. As always we'll be providing beverages and pizzas for the evening. See you all there this evening.

13.01.2022 Two weeks into the regular season we see Toast Malone clear leaders with 2 wins under their suspenders. Mayham is in second place with a better point difference after their victory over Shaquille O'atmeal. Juicy Fruit is yet to get a win this season but will have their sights set on Mayham this coming Monday.

Both teams will be looking for a win or only narrow losses so as to protect their goal difference advantage next week. Juicy Fruit got their first win of the season leaving them on equal points with Fleetwood Stack. Both teams can still possibly make the semis. They will need to win big and hope Come what Mayhem and Jose lose big. It will be a big final game of the regular season next week.

Tomorrow there will be no league games. However present and past players are welcome to come to the field to celebrate and mourn Austin's passing.... 08.01.2022 One week into our short season sees both NorthXNorthEast teams come away with a victory. NXNE 1 or ‘Miley Virus’ took on the fresh faced youth of Cairns ultimate in Mayhem. Led by their two aged, adoptive fathers Jeff Cotter and Shannon Todd, Mayhem fielded a youthful team of whippersnappers full of confidence and not bowed down by the weight of world. The whippersnappers took it to Miley Virus, who looked best when Piva and Jay were off the field, where neither could hog the... disc nor throw it out of bounds. Miley Virus are going to need to get it together in the coming weeks because Mayhem, with several players playing their first game, is bound to improve. NXNE 2 or ‘Liam Phlegmsworth’ clicked against perennial bridesmaids Juicy Fruit. Phlegmsworth had some new faces but looked like they had been together for as many seasons as Hannah Montana has been on our screens. Juicy Fruit looks like a good team on paper but couldn’t convert on the field in the first game of the season. If Juicy Fruit can eliminate some simple errors in their game the will be a competitive team. Phlegmsworth, at this stage, are the front runners and early favourites. Next week Miley Virus plays Juicy Fruit and Mayhem take on Liam Phlegmsworth in the second game of the season.

08.01.2022 Tonight is the last regular season game before the semis. Juicy Fruit and Mayhem meet to decide position 3 and 4. Both teams have been steadily improving and connecting as the season goes on, knowing full well that only 2 games really matter: the semis and the GF. Mayhem’s youthful team was missing Paternal figure 1, Shannon, last week and his return will certainly add some stability to the team. Juicy Fruit clearly developed from week 1 to week 2 and if they continue to impr...ove at the same rate they might just find themselves in the grandest of finals. Liam Phlegmsworth and Miley Virus meet for the first time, both undefeated. The paparazzi will be lined up to see if the glamour paring of these two celebrity teams will continue or if it will end in an ugly divorce, driving a spike in Cairns ultimate tabloid journalism and ultimately seeing an increase in ‘clickbaity’, sensationalised news media that don’t really offer anyting meaningful, monopolised ownership, high levels of inaccuracies and thinly veiled political bias. We will wait and see!

08.01.2022 The end of week 3 creates a little more clarity, however all teams still have a chance to make the semis. Palms are Sweaty continue to lead the competition, having lost no games thus far. Come What Mayhem and Mom's Spaghetti are behind, each with one loss. Come What Mayhem leads Mom's Spag by 1 goal in the points differential. Jose CAIRNSenco and Fleetwood Stack hold down positions 4 and 5 on the ladder with Juicy Fruit, clearly the best presented team, coming in 6th. All eyes will be on Juicy Fruit vs Fleetwood stack in round 4 to see whether Juicy Fruit has a shot at a Cinderella finish.
