As a way of com...municating with cleaner fish and shrimp, it changes its colours meaning it’s ok to approach me and eat delicious parasites off me, I won’t eat you but also a way for the Mackerel to disguise itself from predators, blending in with the reef so that it doesn't become an easy meal.
