24.01.2022 DIWALI COLOURING & DOOR COMPETITION WINNERS. Congratulations to the winner, Maria, and to Jaiden and Mary-anne for coming second and third in the colouring competition. The junior door display winner was a joint effort from 1/2A and 1B while 4L took out the senior prize.

21.01.2022 Cairns West State School Year 6 students planted trees in our school grounds with the help of Ryan from Cairns Regional Council. The Year 6 students wrote notes containing their dreams for the future and planted them with the trees.

20.01.2022 CLONTARF VISIT. Our Year 6 boys were lucky to receive a visit from the Clontarf team based at Trinity Bay SHS. They did a number of activities that got them moving and developed their teamwork.

15.01.2022 THE VERY CRANKY BEAR. During Book Week, Prep J studied 'The Very Cranky Bear' and looked at the characters in 'The Very Cranky Bear' and found out things about them. Who knew what sound a zebra makes?

15.01.2022 LEADERSHIP CAMP. Well done to the Year 5 students who took the first step to becoming students leaders for 2021. They attended a wonderful day at Holloway's Beach Environment Centre where they took part in a number of team activities to demonstrate their skills. They did so well that it will be a tough job to select six leaders for next year. The next step is for them to do a speech to a group of senior staff members.

10.01.2022 WHO REMEMBERS MRS OVERLACK (BRIER-MILLS)? She worked at CWSS from 1980 until 2017. "My time at Cairns West started in 1980 when my 3 children attended school there. Eight years later I commenced work as a preschool assistant and at the time of retirement in 2017, I assisted Mr Woodhouse in the library. I thoroughly enjoyed attending work, socializing with the staff and educating students from preschool to year 7. Presently, I am enjoying more time with family, and travelli...ng in our caravan, the highlight of which was a 12 week tour of Western Australia in 2018. In March 2019, I became a proud great grandmum to Everly, she arrived 10 days late right on my birthday. What absolute joy!" Which other CWSS staff members would you like to see? 10.01.2022 Cairns West State School produced some really great artwork for Diwali. Many thanks for all those who contributed to the beautiful decorations.

09.01.2022 FUTSAL TOURNAMENT. Well done to our Years 5&6 girls who represented CWSS so brilliantly at the futsal tournament. They won three matches but missed out on the finals after narrow losses to two very strong teams from Redlynch State College and Freshwater Christian College. Their skill, attitude and teamwork were exceptional

06.01.2022 FUTSAL TOURNAMENT. The boys had their turn on Thursday and had a lot of fun. The effort and enthusiasm was first class and results improved as the day progressed. We're already looking forward to next year!
