23.01.2022 Yes, we improvise. We snap spaghetti into smaller pieces to bring that authenticity to our #koshari. #thats_how_we_do_it

23.01.2022 School holidays are finally here! We're taking a short break this week...back next weekend.

22.01.2022 So, we got a mention in the Good Food Guide 2020! It's been such an amazing journey and we wouldn't be where we are today without the help and support of so many people. First, a huge thank you to the face in our window, the one who's probably convinced some of you to try something new, our ideas man who keeps us in check at all times, making sure we stay true to our name and to you guys, Mohamed Hassan Bazzara. A special thank you to my two amazing daughters who sacrific...e their weekends for The Cairo Eatery and take their jobs seriously. Thank you to my kitchen wing-woman, Shahd, who's constantly bustling around and keeping me sane. Thank you to the team at Wandering Cooks without their continuous support, we wouldn't be where we are today. Thank you to the family and friends who have supported and guided us, given us direction and feedback that has continued to shape our offering. And finally, last but by no means least, thank YOU for loving us, trusting us and coming back for more.

22.01.2022 Nostalgic for one our favorites...you think it's too hot for soup? #lentilsoup #vegan

21.01.2022 Thanks to Bank09 Photography for the amazing photos! Looking for something that's not our menu? Let us know and we'll whip something up.

19.01.2022 Hope you've all enjoyed the break. We'll be back at Wandering Cooks this Sunday! Who's down for some taamiyah?

16.01.2022 From sharp white onion to a sweet golden brown - fried onions make your #koshari pop!

16.01.2022 Growing up away from home, my parents - like any one who lives outside their country - craved the tastes and flavors of Egypt. My mom made her own version of taamiyah. There's nothing better to get you out of bed in the morning than the smell of fresh taamiyah frying away. When we moved back home - taamiyah being as ubiquitous as it is in Cairo - it became easier to get them from any ful and taamiyah joint...and every neighborhood has one of those. But they never tasted the... same as my mother's. Its been hard to replicate her recipe because she doesnt cook with cups and teaspoons nor does she measure anything by the gram - I dont recall seeing these utensils in her kitchen. She, like many other mamas and teitas (grandmas) out there, eyeballs it. She'll cook by the way it feels - instinct. I guess everyone who cooks has some level of that instinct, it's somewhere deep inside and it's as inexplicable as it is immeasurable. I want to thank her for introducing us to the tastes of home, for her "pseudo-recipe" and for the instinct that I work with today. See more

15.01.2022 So these guys are visiting all the way from Cairo...here to welcome you this Sunday morning. #wheres_tamtam

13.01.2022 Well, that's it; 2019 is done and dusted. Wishing you all happy holidays and we'll see you in the new year!

11.01.2022 I'm not very savvy when it comes to picking a watermelon, but this one from @thaihoagrocer is just perfect for this hot Sunday. #watermelon #fetacheese salad anyone?

11.01.2022 Look what's starting to bloom very nicely and creating great shade at Wandering Cooks. We might be picking these lovelies soon!

10.01.2022 Good news for music lovers!

08.01.2022 Ever wondered how we cope with no air con, in a big tin shed for a Brisbane summer. Here’s how, with Hot Dayz baby!

07.01.2022 Did you miss us? We needed that short break to recharge. We're back again serving breakfast and lunch at @Wandering Cooks tomorrow....the last service of 2019! Next time we see you, it'll be 2020

06.01.2022 Who said you cant have koshari for breakfast?

05.01.2022 Today is mother's day back home -- A big shout out to all the moms out there for all that they do. Today is also our last service for a while. We all have to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID19 and as such @wandering Cooks will be closed Sunday- Tuesday until further notice. Until then, we hope you stay safe and healthy and join us again for taamiya and koshari when this is all over.

04.01.2022 What's cooking good looking? Stay tuned...

02.01.2022 We're off doing some R&D today; back again on 26 January...yes, we're open on Australia Day!
