24.01.2022 3 Tips to get an extra day out of your hair when you can't be bothered to wash it . . 1. Dry Shampoo - used to soak up the oils in your hair. Before you style it, spray dry shampoo at the roots taking horizontal sections through out your whole head. Then tip your head upside down down and blast in with your blowdryer. Rough it up a bit, don't be shy. .... . 2. Put a curl in it - either with your hair ghd straightener or ghd curling tong. Adding texture to your hair will make it look less greasy. If you have trouble with curling, ask me at your next appointment for a demo. . . 3. When in doubt, put it up! - use the dry shampoo method to give your hair a bit of grit and whack it up into a pony or a low bun and add an accessorie such as a hair clip or headband. . . Hair colours that last for months and just need topping up with a toner every so often. I like to take the time with finer sections so that your regrowth is less obvious and your getting longer out of your colour. .... . 09.01.2022 Curly Hair Tips.... . . If you have curly hair then you know your curls never sit the same everyday, some days you love them and other days you want to shave your head!! I absolutely love curly hair some days i can get a good wave out of my hair but never a beautiful bouncy curl. .... . Curly hair is naturally dry, because of the texture you need to work a bit harder to get that cuticle closed to reduce frizz and enhance shine. This means moisture and lots of it!! The tighter the curl the more moisture you need, if your hair has different curls (a combo of loose and tight ) be careful not to put too much moisture on the looser curls as this my drag them down. . . Avoid brushing your curls (unless you are about to wash your hair) instead use a wide tooth comb to slide through the curve, start from the bottom of you hair and work your way up. . Try not to wash your hair too often and when you do use a gentle shampoo. Don't scrub too hard, you want to try and work with your natural oils and always follow with a hydrating conditioner or mask concentrating on the mid-lengths & ends. A good way to test how much moisture you need, pull one of your coils and see how fast is springs back, if its slow it needs more moisture. Rinse with cold water... hot water will open the cuticle and cold closes it, remember closed cuticle = less frizz and shiny hair. . Always apply a curl cream or balm while your hair is wet, my favourite is Curl Definer by @SystemProfessional. It gives bounce and prevents fly aways with its anti static effect. Let your hair dry naturally or gently dry it with a diffuser. If you have time, try wrapping up your wet, freshly washed hair in a microfiber towel or old T-shirt, this will absorb excess water and help it to dry without causing frizz. It can also help to create volume at the roots. you can top up your hair with product in the days following your wash, when it starts to feel dry again use your curl cream or my favourite Luxe oil. 01.01.2022 So this was my inspiration photo for my recent hair colour... "inspiration" being the key word here .... I love when my clients bring in photos!! It helps during consultation to give me an idea of the look we are trying to achieve and keeps us both on the same page. When you bring in an inspo photo, what I want to know is, what is it you like about it?... What has drawn you to pick this image. We all see things differently and what might stand out to you may not stand out to... me. . . For example what I like about this image is the face framing foils, the tone of the blonde and the fact that her brown is a similar colour to mine. I'm all about the low maintenance colours and this looks like it will grow out well. . . Another tip is to look at the skin tone and eye colour of the model in your image... Is it similar to yours? It doesn't have to be exact.. this model has blue eyes and I have brown, but is it something to consider. Think about the hair thickness, texture (curly or straight) and length when choosing your photo too. Although hairdressers can create magic with a brush and a pair of scissors unfortunately we are not magicians using images is the best way to communicate your colour with a hairdresser if you are after a particular look and we have so many platforms available for inspiration. . .
