23.01.2022 W e d d i n g. S e a s o n. 2020. W r a p! . Bitter sweet to wrap up this years wedding season which was set to be my BIGGEST year of wedding cakes yet! . A stressful year for so many, including all the beautiful couples that were so patient with this years ‘shit show’ and the unknown and WAYYYY to many restrictions that were placed around weddings due to Covid.... . This weekends lovely couple rescheduled their wedding from April to December and I could be happier that they got to celebrate with their friends and family from interstate & even got to hit up the dance floor!. . After what has been a relentless year of 70 plus hour weeks & mostly 7 days a week in studio (which I am so very proud & grateful for that my business has grown from strength to strength during the shitshow of a year) 2020 has also been a year that I have been able to re assess what is working for me & my family & what has not (we are mostly at the ‘what has not been working stage’ ). . There for I have made some major changes to my studio operating ho...urs for 2021 and a few changes will be made on products that we have available to make room for the start of our beautiful {Blooms & Buttercream Workshops} that will be regularly on the menu. Enough of 2020 already.....I’m more than ready for Christmas &!the New Year to begin, just wish it could have been started by celebrating with my sister like planned & booked (hello f**ing Covid entering Sydney where we were meant to be ). . Looking on the bright side, some of our couples that were forced to reschedule their weddings for this year, still went ahead with their ‘I do’s’ and lucky enough to have TWO wedding cakes! ... . The success of our ‘mini cakes’ last year was unbelievable. It kept the studio alive & this work-a-holic in a safe head space to move forward and keep building my small business though a world wide pandemic. . It took me awhile to tackle one but lucky for me I have a beautiful friend that brought me a fancy gadget that makes this stripe process a shite load less stressful! . It still requires some skill and it takes patience & you really need processes in place to perfect those pesky straight lines...but it’s worth the time & effort ... .
