16.01.2022 Eee they’re so cute and delicious!! I love edible flowers and I love this. Read on ffriend #Repost @sam_and_wild_violet_garden Edible flowers all in blo...om in my spring garden...... Not all edible flowers taste the same; some are sweet, others are bitter and some have hardly any flavour at all, they just add a colour to a dish. 1. Rocket/Arugua, peppery flavour, just like the Rocket leaves. 2. Violas, mild flavour, great in salads or on a cake. 3. Brassica flowers, spring can make veggies like kale and broccoli bolt to flower, their flowers taste mild, slightly bitter. 4. Alyssum, a strong brassica flower taste, so best in salads. 5. Borage, mild almost cucumber flavour, best in ice cubes, and salads or atop of a cake. 6. Broad beans, taste exactly like the beans only milder. We eat them as a garden snack. 7. Strawberry flowers, edible but very mild flavour, I prefer to wait for the sweet strawberries. 8. Forget-me-nots, mild Borage flavour. 9. Pea flowers, taste just like fresh peas, only eat the flowers of edible peas like sugar snaps and snow peas. Never eat ornamental pea flowers like sweet peas. 10. Nasturtium, hot peppery taste, great in salads. 11. Thyme, taste is herbal like thyme leaves, use just as you would use thyme leaves, only they are much prettier. 12. Bellis perennis, hardly any flavour but oh so pretty, very versatile. 13. Stock flowers (10 weeks variety) taste is very strong and floral. 14. Chive blossoms, tastes like very intense chive leaves, great to flavour vinegar. 15. Lime flowers, they have a strong citrus flavour and fleshy petals. 16. Common Sage, tastes very herbal, like the leaves, great dried into a tea. 17. Primula, tastes very mild, pretty on top of a cake. 18. Pineapple Sage, taste is sweet and fragrant. One of my favourites. 19. Daisy, very mild flavour. 20. Cornflower, a little spicy. 21. Calendula, bitter flavour, pretty in salads. 22. Lilac, tastes very floral with slight bitterness. 23. Rose, very fragrant flavour. 24. Fennel, aniseed flavour just like the leaves. 25. Snap dragons, mild flavour with robust fleshy blooms. It is important to always be safe, as not all flowers are edible... #flowers #garden See more
