25.01.2022 A very Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers, Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers. And a special shout out to all those in Lockdown. Have a great day!!!

25.01.2022 Hello everyone! We know at Caladenia that the staff and volunteers go out of their way to make the day special for our members. Heres a story to warm the cockles of your heart from Jo Wetjen.... "During a recent check in call with Kevin F (approx 3 weeks ago), we chatted about what wed been up to. Kevin loves his pie and vanilla slice for lunch and listening to Smooth FM - especially Melissa Doyle. He thinks shes lovely. You could tell in his voice, that he was smiling when he was talking about her and holds her in high esteem like Lady Diana and the girls from the club. That got me to thinking, its worth a shot to contact her and ask if her PR people could they could send Kev a signed pic of her. That would make his day. I did, and explained that due to Covid restrictions we arent able to undertake our social programs, and how isolating it was for our members. To my surprise, the next day I received a reply from Melissa herself. Not only offering a signed picture, but a phone call to Kev to say hello! With phone calls and emails exchanged to ensure Kevs niece Sheryl could be there for the call, it happened yesterday the 13th August. There was polite discussion about her family, she asked him about his garden and listening to the radio. Sheryl told me that even when his parents died, he showed no emotion. Talking to Melissa, he had tears in his eyes and he was so happy! The photos certainly reflect his joy. I sent Melissa a thank you email, to which she replied and said it was her pleasure. That is was lovely to speak with him (and Sheryl) and that she would give him a shout out on the radio this Saturday, on SMOOTH FM just before nine am. (I have a reminder set for tomorrow morning so I dont forget to tune in) Jo W" smoothfm 91.5 Melissa Doyle Jo Wetjen

20.01.2022 As #NationalCarersWeek2020 draws to a close; remember this: Kindness can transform someone's dark moment with a blaze of light. You'll never know how much your caring matters. Make a difference for another today. Amy Leigh Mercree, author

20.01.2022 In March of this year our worlds were all tipped upside down with the suspension of all our face to face programs due to Covid-19. Team Caladenia has continued to support the Caladenia Community in many different and creative ways. We believe that although we are all individuals, we have come together as one, supporting each other through the good and the bad.... In June this year we embarked on our Community Project. Each Members, Volunteers, Board Members and Staff was given a kit consisting of a cardboard cut-out of a generic person and goodies to decorate their person. Included were instructions on completing their person and emphasising that as we are all individuals, so were the cut outs and everybody had artistic licence to complete the task however they wanted to. A total of 140 kits were delivered. This project created much excitement for those involved. Calls to collect the completed person came quickly and as each person was collected our community grew. No two people are the same with many participants creating a replica of themselves and using their creative talents in a way not seen before. Once the people were returned to Meadowbank House, they were photographed and put on our newly made Community Wall. This wall visually illustrates that we are connected through our involvement with Caladenia, that we have become a true Community with the arrival of the Corona Virus and we will go on. 06.01.2022 Important Information for The Caladenia Family You may have heard about the recent changes to government guidelines related to social groups, face to face Government. services and a relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions. While I understand that many of our program members and carers are very eager to resume regular programs as soon as possible, Caladenia has opted to take a more cautious approach to reopening. ... With the health and wellbeing of our potentially vulnerable community vitally important during this time, we are looking to ensure strict safety protocols are in place for resuming any or all of our social support programs, this includes both outings and in house programs. This means that we will not be resuming our face to face programs yet, although we are now actively working toward the resumption of services. I have decided that I am only prepared to do so once I am comfortable that it can be done in a safe, considered and measured way which minimises risks to our members and their families. The date of reopening has not yet been set, but is expected to be a number of weeks away. We will inform you as soon as it is known. In the meantime Caladenia staff will be conducting a service review with each member and their family by telephone this will ensure that we have the most up to date information to allow us to best safely meet the needs of each individual member when we do resume services. I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we all adapt to unprecedented changes in the way we safely deliver services to our community. If you have any queries regarding this, please contact me directly on 0413 139 277 or [email protected] Sarah Yeates - CEO

Hang in there. Shout out to a carer you want to acknowledge below!!
