20.01.2022 We were busy today getting ready for a big group next weekend. Someone has chosen Calando Hill for a significant birthday and there will be music, fire pits, food and good times (we're sure). The weather today put on a glorious show. Hopefully it will be just as good for the party!

20.01.2022 Guests at Calando Hill would know this table. We have entertained a lot of folks around this. However, on the weekend Anita and I found another table that we absolutely love and we want to buy it. However, this means we have to find a good home for this trusty friend. The wood is Elm and fully extended it is 3.1 meters long and 1 meter wide. In its non extended state it is, I believe, 2.4 meters long. Still in great nick but we've got to be ready.for the new one. Message me if you're interested. We are currently asking for $900.

19.01.2022 Last light at Calando Hill. One of or favourite things in life.

13.01.2022 Calando Hill attracts all sorts of gorgeous creatures. This young and very sweet girl found her way to us today and we would love to reunite her with her family. If you or someone you know has lost this dog in the Amphitheatre area, give me a call or message me. We will keep her safe in the meantime.

12.01.2022 Our latest upgrade at Calando Hill! We just finished installing 4 new ceiling fans in the main room - but not just ANY ceiling fans. They are each 2.1 meters in diameter (that's almost 7 feet in the old measure). More importantly they are DC powered so use only a fraction of the electricity of the old ones AND are remote controlled (so no more climbing a ladder to change between winter and summer modes). Howzat!!

10.01.2022 Well, the smoke is all gone and we've had a bit of rain. With the threat of fire now over, we're ready to receive our next guests. January is booked out and so is March and June but we can still take bookings for February, April and May. We think Autumn is going to be spectacular!

08.01.2022 Back on 6 April I put up the first photo showing off the colour s of the sunrise on Mount Lonarch to our southwest (this turned out to be our most viewed photograph to date with over 1,300 views and 349 people either Like, Love or Wow'ing it!). The second picture shows the difference a month and eight days (and 78 mm of rain) makes in the Pyrenees Ranges. Howzat!!

07.01.2022 The coming dawn! We hope that the old saying "Red sky in morning, sailor take warning!" Is correct. We sure could use the rain!

07.01.2022 With the return to cooler nights, we turned on the pool heater for the first time yesterday. Last night the water temperature reached 29C (84F) and we rolled back the pool blanket and had a swim as the crescent moon set and the Milky Way burst forth. Absolutely heavenly. Inevitably, of course, the dash from the water to the towel and the house was a bit brisk but did not diminish the luxury of the warm swim. I'll be back in there tonight!

07.01.2022 We recently had a group that hired the place for a weekend that aren't on Facebook but they wanted to leave a review. In the end they emailed me the following text and gave me permission to post it on their behalf. By the way, this was this group's second time at Calando Hill. We get a lot of repeat guests with some groups now having stayed three times each. We must be doing something right! "Dear Richard and Anita This is a belated Thank You for allowing us to book your ...lovely home at Calando Hill. We all enjoyed our stay greatly, and have created new family memories to share. Thank you for all the welcome, Anita, and for the lovely home made bread, and for your warmth and generosity with setting up the pool, and getting the house ready for a crowd. It was good to meet you both again, and we appreciate all you did to make our stay trouble-free and memorable. 01.01.2022 How do you like the colour of the sunrise reflected off of Mt Lonarch? This is the view we see out of the main bedroom every morning (ok, not just from the bedroom but everywhere on the west side of the house). That's just one of the things we love about Calando Hill.
