23.01.2022 For the Love of Parking

20.01.2022 I know "Smart Cities" are now the centre of local government technology debates. But how Smart are they? Have we even moved one step beyond the "Free CBD WiFi" component of the Smart City platform. My point of view is that free wifi is a hassle and i'd rather tether off my phone. On another note, I think that technology has barely begun to integrate with each other as developers and coders are yet to obtain clear direction as to how this whole thing is going to work from a data flow point of view. I am a bit tired of all the fancy flow charts in all these marketing materials that show pretty clouds moving data to various devices. But that does little for your typical coder that needs to do a little more work than that. And does a smart garbage bin really need to talk to a parking meter? That would be an interesting marriage.

20.01.2022 Please note that Caldwell&Kent Consulting ceased trading 30 June 2018. Two of its directors, Abdul and Glenn have been working as ParkTransit - www.parktransit.com

02.01.2022 Palisade and Investec announce completion of Gold Coast University Hospital and Private Hospital Car Parks sale process Palisade Investment Partners (Palisade), a specialist manager of Australian unlisted infrastructure, stated the following in a recent press release: Palisade has reached financial close on the acquisition of an interest in the Gold Coast University Hospital and Private Hospital Car Parks project (the Project). The interest in the Project was acquired from ...Investec Bank Plc (Investec) who will retain an interest. The Project holds a concession to operate the car parks servicing the Gold Coast University Hospital operated by the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Services (Queensland Health) and the Gold Coast Private Hospital operated by Healthscope Limited. The Hospitals are located within a new 200 hectare purpose-built Health and Knowledge Precinct in Southport, approximately 6.5km northwest of Surfers Paradise. The Public Hospital Car Park has 2,297 bays and commenced full operations in September 2013. The Private Hospital Car Park commenced operations in March 2016 and comprises 496 bays. The car parks will continue to be managed by Secure Parking. Caldwell & Kent Consulting (CKC) were pleased to have been part of Palisades advisory team during the due diligence phase of the Project. In cooperation with corporate advisors Grant Samuel, CKC conducted a rigorous assessment of the Projects historical financial performance and existing demand drivers. CKC were able to identify the Projects long term opportunities, including forecasting the impacts from continual growth in patient admissions. CKC consider the Project as very unique due to its location within the fast expanding precinct of Southport which now includes: The Griffith University Campus, Gold Coast Public/Private Hospitals and the Gold Coast Light Rail line. In addition the precincts profile will intensify as a result of the upcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games Village development. Considering the complex nature of the precinct, forecasting long term growth in parking demand required a collaborative team effort - drawing upon extensive research and financial modelling.
