25.01.2022 Today we honour all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and its allies. And as time puts an ever greater distance between us and the events that inspired this tradition, the retelling of its history, and the stories of those who made it, is ever more important. Lest we forget.

24.01.2022 Despite being surprised and facing a concerted attempt to overwhelm her, this woman fought her attacker with everything at her disposal. She instinctively used a technique we call 'framing' with her top leg and arm, while using the only weapons she had available her teeth and voice to counter attack. Kudos to her, and shame on the attacker's lawyers for trying to minimise his crime.

19.01.2022 This is our last public course for the year in Brisbane! If you've been thinking about training or want to refresh your skills, get amongst it this Saturday at the High Fidelity Training Centre with Combatives Master Trainer Geordie Lavers-McBain. The man has loads of knowledge, instructor qualifications in multiple martial arts and combat systems, and is the only 'civvie' teaching the Army Combatives Program (ACP) to Australian soldiers.

17.01.2022 Even what we'd call 'senseless' violence has its underlying causes, triggers and tells. Learning what these are, as explained in Mat Wann's book 'Predicting Violence', is a key step in protecting yourself and others. Mat will cover these and other means of becoming a 'hard target' in a new one-day course, launching in April.

08.01.2022 The first Kinetic Fighting dining-in night for ACP/KEFIC Instructors at the KEF HQ. The event was the culmination of a weekend of up-skilling and instructor development.

06.01.2022 As well as equipping our soldiers with reliable skills for close-range warfare, the Army Combatives Program applies Kinetic Fighting methodology to improve a range of attributes, including self-regulation under combat stress, unit camaraderie and team tactics.

04.01.2022 If your 'self-defence' training is limited to dealing with a single opponent, you will be manifestly unprepared for the real world. Just a few lessons from this incident: Don't expect a rational plea to cut through drunken rage; don't believe bystanders will assist you; don't assume your attacker has a moral limitation on his actions (this guy punched through his own girlfriend to get his target); and, most of all, don't stand in the middle! Look at the thumbnail image here, showing where the attackers and their victim are placed, and then what occurs afterward in the video. Training tactical positioning and movement to deal with multiple threats is vital.

03.01.2022 Where it all started with the first ICC built at 2 Commando in 2011. I developed the new SF Close Quarter Fighting course in 2007 and in 2011 this was built to ...allow me to further develop SFCQF capability, which I then did full-time along with overseeing the Armed Response Protection Team (ARPT) capability. #kineticfighting #specialforces #australia #commando #2ndcommandoregiment #sof #specialoperations #specialoperationsforces #army #australianarmy See more
