24.01.2022 I had a chat with Councillor Fran Mann yesterday and expressed my appreciation. The P&C received a community grant from Mackay Regional Council to help cover the costs of the Calen District Surf Life Saving Week.

24.01.2022 **Don't Forget your Baked Goodies** Athletics Carnival Food Stall Due to current restrictions, parents are unable to attend this year’s athletics carnival. This means the P&C are unable to run the food stall for the day. The secondary student council will come to the rescue and sell some goodies throughout the day.... We are asking parent to kindly donate baked goodies. We will have a table set up at the front of the school for parents to drop off sweets on Wednesday morning. Your support, as always, is appreciated. Prices: Hot Dogs $3 Baked goods 2 for $0.50 Soft drinks- $2 each Water- $1 Don’t forget we will be selling ‘Neptune’ and ‘Mercury’ tattoos for $1 each also.

24.01.2022 Some great tips and advice was given to us at last night's P&C's Regional Mackay networking meeting. It was a great opportunity to talk with other p&c's and a representative from QLD P&C.

If you can not make it but would like to become a member and have the minutes emailed to you so you can keep up with what's happening please leave your details at the school office.

21.01.2022 Are you planning an event, throwing a party or know some one who is? We have a fantastic cold room for hire starting from $150 for a weekend hire with $50 refundable upon its safe return. Pick up is from Calen School and bookings can be done through the school office on 49 497 333.

In recognition of the outstanding efforts of school staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the last two days of the scho...ol year, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, have been declared student free days. Schools will be closed on these days. For some regional, rural and remote schools that finish the school year earlier, the student free days will be Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December. 11.01.2022 The P & C Ass. is more than just baking cakes. You also get to participate in lots of fun activities. Come and join us. A HUGE thank you to all the students that fundraised and participated in today's Colour Explosion. Students raised over $2000 for the P & C. A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Mrs Kassandra Schaefer for all your hard work organising the event!!... Students, Teachers and P & C committee had a total blast!! 08.01.2022 Colour Explosion Congratulations on everyone’s efforts to obtain sponsors for our Colour Explosion so far! There is still 1 week left to seek out sponsors! DON’T FORGET to select you prizes on your students online profile page, or list them on their sponsorship form when they are returned. Forms are due to be returned Wednesday 9th September.

05.01.2022 **P & C Meeting** Tuesday 8th September 2020 3.10pm School Library The Focus of this meeting will be the P & C Strategic Plan. Over the next few weeks the P & C Committee will develop a Strategic Plan - establishing a direction for the P & C. It will include the P & C's values, objectives, goals and how we aim to achieve those goals. We aim to get feedback for this exercise from Parents, Students, Teachers, School Staff and from Community members. ... The meeting on Tuesday will focus on short, medium and long term goals. There will be 3 x 10 minute 'brain dumps' for each time frame. Between now and the meeting please have a think about what you would like included in these goals. Your attendance and input into the P & C meetings is always greatly appreciated. Meeting Schedule: 3.10 - 3.25 : Open meeting, reports, discussion 3.25 - 3.35 : Short term goals 3.35 - 3.45 : Medium term goals 3.45 - 3.55 : Long term goals 3.55 - 4.00 : Close meeting Regards Nancy Pratt President

05.01.2022 !!! REMINDER - Colour Explosion Tomorrow !!! Don't forget a white shirt and to send a change of clothes for students going home on the bus after our Colour Explosion! It will be held in the last lesson of the day. Please remember that sadly, we are unable to invite parents to attend the event this year.
