24.01.2022 Please support the petition! We are calling on the Andrews Government to overturn its ban of the sale of ammunition and firearms in Victoria. The Nationals Me...mber for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath calls on the Andrews Government to immediately reverse its ban on the sale of ammunition and firearms in Victoria. The ban is not based on National Cabinet advice, but politically motivated. Firearm and ammunition retailers are losing millions of dollars, impacting family businesses and forcing many Victorians out of their jobs. This is happening at a time where we can least afford it. Recreational shooters and land care volunteers must be allowed to purchase ammunition to support farmers control feral pests, but also improve mental health and wellbeing by permitting recreational activities such as hunting and target shooting. I the undersigned Victorian citizen call on the Andrews Government to recognise that Victorian licenced firearms owners deserve the right to purchase ammunition and firearms and overturn the ban immediately. You do not have to include your address. Please share this will all licensed shooters and clubs. https://www.respectvictoriangunowners.com/

14.01.2022 And the wait continues...

14.01.2022 Update on 2020 Participation Requirements from LRD In response to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, the Victorian Government had issued Stage 3 restrictions for Regional Victoria and Stage 4 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne, meaning travel and movement throughout the state has been restricted. Under these circumstances, the Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) are aware that licence holders have not been permitted to attend and participate at shooting clubs during this... time. Due to these restrictions, Victoria Police have made the decision to waive all handgun participation requirements for the 2020 calendar year effective immediately. This means that all shoots or matches required to be completed per number of classes of handgun possessed, will be exempt for the 2020 calendar year. Licence holders are not required to submit requests for exemption or modification, this variation applies to all affected licence holders. If you have further questions, please email [email protected] or if you need more information about the current restriction levels in Victoria, please refer to the Department of Health and Human Services website. We would like to thank you for your continued cooperation during this time and hope you are staying safe and well. Regards, Licensing and Regulation Division Regulatory Services Department Victoria Police

14.01.2022 Victorian licensed firearms owners would now be aware of the recent threat by Victoria Police Licensing and Regulation Division (LRD) to reprimand, suspend or ...cancel licences of registered firearm owners who blatantly and deliberately breach the current directives of Victorias Chief Health Officer (CHO). SSAA Victoria considers this threat to be an overreach of powers granted to LRD. Be aware, it is no idle threat. SSAA Victoria is aware of LRDs suspension/ cancellation of licences of firearms owners who have received fines for breaching the current COVID-19 Stage 4 restrictions. SSAA Victoria has sought legal advice and is reviewing these cases to challenge this additional punishment. No other segment of society is facing additional punitive measures for breaching current COVID-19 restrictions. Yet again it would appear that legally licensed firearms owners are being singled out and being treated unfairly. SSAA Victoria questions the legal principle of LRDs threat and its implications for natural justice in Victoria. Why are the same standards and demands not made of Victorians in other sports or recreational pursuits? If any SSAA Victoria members have been threatened with losing their firearms licence as a result of breaching COVID-19 restrictions, the Association would encourage you to contact State Office. The Association is ready, willing and able to fight unjust treatment of shooters. While SSAA Victoria supports the directives issued by the CHO and the measures implemented to keep Victorians safe during this time, the Association believes the statement issued by LRD to be ill-considered. We also believe that LRD is acting beyond its authority and power in taking such actions. Only the SSAA Victoria has the standing and resources to challenge LRD all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. To do so, we must work with the right instance of Police acting beyond their powers and in a way not contemplated by the Firearms Act 1996. Any challenge we undertake must be convincing to the court.

14.01.2022 The day has finally arrived when Victoria will again be one. See you at the range.

03.01.2022 Looks like our Metro Melbourne members will be waiting a while longer before being able to return to the range. Changes to restrictions outlined today show no end in the foreseeable future to the now 25km distance from home or restrictions on crossing from Metro Melbourne into Regional Vic.

01.01.2022 Temporary Range Closure With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the government has asked that all non-essential gatherings not be held for at least 4 weeks. In these difficult times it is imperative that everyone does their part in stopping the spread of this terrible disease. In response to this, the decision has been made to temporarily close the range. ... We will keep you up to date with what is happening as things develop and hopefully, we will be back to shooting in the not too distant future. In the mean time please follow all the guidelines to keep you and your loved ones safe.
