Starting with our magnificent Sub-Junior A Grade Divisions 1 and 2 - what an amazing standard across all clubs! We are very proud of every one of our very talented coaches and your amazing team members. Junior B Grade Divisions 1 and 2 competition followed this afternoon. 19.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that the CAWA Board of Management has made the decision to commence preparations for the National Championships in 2021. At this stage the Australian Calisthenics Federation has not made a final decision on whether the Championships will be held but have indicated that if they are, they will be held in Darwin in July 2021. In the event that the Nationals cannot be staged in person, there are also discussions taking place on using a virtual platf...orm to host the competition. These decisions may not be finalised until December or January following responses from all of the states. 18.01.2022 In case you haven't heard, CAWA is livestreaming this weekend's 2020 Senior Solo/Duo Competition for FREE from 1.30pm WST. During our Senior Solo / Duo competition, Caleigh Faulkner, one of WA's elite Seniors, will attempt to add Honours to her Gold Medal, the highest personal accolade that can be achieved through the Calisthenics Skills Program. (To be able to perform for Honours, a Gold Medal mark over 90 was achieved at her Gold Medal exam in January of this year.) Cale...igh will present 3 stage performances (free exercises, rod exercises, and aesthetic and dance) that she and her coach Karen Quinn have choreographed together. Each performance is two and a half minutes long and will be spread throughout afternoon's competition. We would love to encourage everyone to tune into the livestream to enjoy an afternoon full of Solo and Duo entertainment by our incredible WA Seniors and to support Caleigh and her coach Karen Quinn on the final leg of their journey. We have commenced our 2020 CAWA Competitions today with two of our beautiful sub-junior sections. This morning showcased the Sub-Junior 3/4/5/6 teams and this afternoon our fabulous Sub-Junior B Grade teams have performed.... For many of these young ladies this is the first time that they have performed on stage and we are very proud of their achievements. 15.01.2022 IMPORTANT STATE TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT ACF have announced that they have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Nationals that were due to be held in Darwin in July 2021. Albeit that this is the situation, the CAWA Board of Management have decided that it is imperative to continue to develop and extend our elite calisthenics competitors. To this end, CAWA will still be selecting state teams in the sub junior, junior and intermediate sections. The teams will continue as t...hey have done in the past, training on Sundays, attending training camps, participating in the dress rehearsal day and will culminate in the very exciting "Spectacular Concert". Unfortunately, we will be missing out on travelling and competing in Darwin however, the state team journey is so much more than just the competition. The extension in the level of training, increased skills and fitness as well as the friendships made, are just some of the benefits of State Team. Congratulations to Wendy Kraft on receiving Life Membership of CAWA, to Tanya Hymus on receiving the 2020 CAWA Outstanding Volunteer award and Hannah Vu for receiving the coveted 2020 Amanda Young Award for the Cadet... of the Year. Gail has decided to retire from this position - however, will still be seen at Midvale during competitions, sharing her invaluable knowledge of the sport with others.
