18.01.2022 With the ever present threat of COVID-19, we are following the ever changing recommendation from both state and federal government. In doing so we have implemented a number of new strategies to do our part in limiting public transmission. - Our physios are now wearing level 1 facemasks when interacting with clients, a recent recommendation from the Victorian Government. - Our adminstration staff are now doing a verbal COVID screen both on booking and on entry to our facility.... This adds to our current preventative practices, including: - Implementing thorough cleaning practices with hospital grade wipes in between each treatment session as well as frequent cleaning of waiting area. - Maintaining safe distances, where possible, within the treatment and adminstration process. - Encouraging telehealth appointments where appropriate. We also ask that all attendents to our clinic: - Advise us early if they have signs, symptoms, contact with known cases or been in any COVID-19 hotspots. - Maintain social distances at all times. - Maintain through hygiene practices - Wear a face mask if one is available to you - and consider a telehealth appointment where appropriate. For further information you can head to the coronavirus information page on our website: https://www.callahanphysiotherapy.com/corona-virus If you have any issues, concerns or questions don't hesitate to contact us.

17.01.2022 A belated congratulations to Simon and his wife Carli who welcomed their beautiful new daughter Elliana Maie into the world on the 10th of July. Their children Alexia and Archer were over the moon to meet their new baby sister. Carli Callahan Simon Callahan

16.01.2022 With the SFNL's announcement that the season will commence on the 25th of July. Its super important that you listen to this advice. Follow the three P's Prepare well - this encompasses all training get your body fit and strong and your mind alert so that you're ready to play... Progressively load - gradually build up your capacity, and allow time to recover. If your load exceeds your capacity, injuries will happen. Prevent injuries - there are multiple injury prevention programs that have been shown to decrease injury rates by up to 50% your warm up program should include 3 components; dynamic movement, strengthening including core, and jump, land and balance exercises. DONT STRETCH!!! We predict that there will be multiple injuries due to limited preparation time. So if you're a coach, support staff or a proactive player consider getting in contact with us now rather than having your players come in on Monday the 27th with season ending injuries.

15.01.2022 Its great to see that gyms are reopening in the near future. Make sure you progressively ease your way back into it.

12.01.2022 Thank you to Mildura Waves Aquatic & Leisure Centre It was with great sadness that we made the decision to cease trading from your facility in Mid 2020. Over the past 7 years, you have given us an exceptional base to provide Physiotherapy service from and allowed us to develop a business that provides quality Physio to the Sunraysia community. Thank you to Rod Simms and the Belgravia Leisure team for giving us the initial foundation as well as invaluable lessons on health bu...siness management, marketing, and development. At the time we didn’t fully appreciate the insight that you were giving us, so thank you. Thank you to Caitlin Simmons and the Aligned Leisure team for your assistance over the past few years. We will continue to use the Waves facility for hydrotherapy however all our other services will be conducted at, Advantage Health Group, 53 eighth street. We are excited to announce that, in early 2021, we have a new Physio joining us and with the return of Amanda Ramsey from Maternity leave, we will have an outstanding team assembled to provide high quality Musculoskeletal and Sports Physio assessment and treatment to the Sunraysia Community Keep an eye out for further details in the coming weeks.

12.01.2022 Get match fit in 6 weeks. With the potential for footy to recommence in early July how will your team be getting match fit Any good preseason training should comprise 3 key elements... - cardiovascular fitness running sprints long drills etc. - skills based training including match simulation and team game plans. - Injury prevention often overlooked. If the season does get underway it’s most likely only going to be 9 rounds, so it’s even more important to prevent injuries and keep your strongest team on the park. Hamstring, groin, knee and ankle injuries are the most common causes of time out of the game. Don’t put your players at risk by skipping injury prevention in your training program. At 4pm Thursday the 28th May Callahan Physiotherapy will host a live online presentation on the footy first injury prevention program, shown to prevent injuries by up to 50%. Here we’ll discuss the program, how it works and delve a little deeper into other training strategies to get you tip top prior to the season commencement. Send us a message to register your interest and we’ll send you the link. Don’t let injuries cause further issues to your 2020 season.

09.01.2022 BACK PAIN Do not let a healthcare practitioner, friend or the internet convince you that your back pain means you have a ‘bad’ back. Our spines are in...credibly resilient and back pain is often associated with factors outside of the spine itself (beliefs, emotions, stress, etc). Unfortunately, many people still believe that having pain means they are injured and are bound to have problems for life. Changing this belief is instrumental. _ This belief is unfortunately perpetuated by many medical, rehabilitation and fitness providers who have yet to study the intricacies of pain science and function from the standpoint that physical pain is completely a result of something being wrong or injured within the tissues of the physical body. _ In most cases, the remedy for low back pain is to simply trust that your back can become less irritable, which will decrease stress, fear and anxiety. Then, find movement/exercise that you enjoy and participate in it regularly. There is a ton of research to support exercise for back pain and no one magic bullet that works for everyone. Start experimenting and find what works for you. - Great picture by @brad_beer , reposted and text by Rehab Science! What do you think? Let us know! :) See more

08.01.2022 If you've had telehealth with us, fill in the survey. If positive outcomes come from this it may help convince private health insurance companies and other insurers to continue to fund telehealth beyond the coronovirus era. Giving rural and remote clients access to funded physiotherapy sessions.
