14.01.2022 One of my favourite things about painting with gouache .... if I stuff up, it’s not game over . I definitely need to post more often but lately I’ve been feeling like I have nothing polished to share ... so maybe I’ll just share the stuff ups! We all make them, it’s silly to act like artist life never has mess or bad design decisions. These little elements were just not delicate enough and they were throwing off my whole game - so they’re out! I’ll try again after I have a ...break and a snack. . When you’re patching up with gouache it’s important to remember you’re adding thick layers of pigment and it’s very easy to wind up with an uneven and crack-prone surface. Can’t do it too often on one piece. 08.01.2022 Bit of a throwback! This was a menu for a dinner at the NGV, almost two years ago now. I loved doing these - it was a wild week of preparation but we came up with these lovely invitations. 02.01.2022 While I was focused on writing out new class notes for the classes I’m teaching with #creativecorner this week, Percy was climbing into the cupboard to chew his way into the treat bag I hid there. I found him afterwards when he started crying to be let out because he had finished all the treats and he doesn’t really have a great understanding of the concept of doors. .
