24.01.2022 2020 Callington Show Cancelled Callington Show Committee met this week and, with great disappointment, decided to cancel its Show planned for October 2020. As we know, the pandemic has changed everything for now, and our decision was made reluctantly, in the interest of public safety. We cannot know when large gatherings will be restored by the State and Federal Governments. Maintaining social distancing during an outdoor event and ensuring contact tracing if an outbrea...k were to result from holding the Show, is simply too difficult. We are sure the community will understand the decision we have made. The Callington Show is in a sound financial position and we would like to sincerely thank sponsors & providers of grants for this year’s Show. We are confident that the grants can be rolled over, and that a Drumming Festival will be part of the Show in 2021. We look forward to welcoming all our stall holders, exhibitors, entertainers, and our amazing volunteers, on the last Sunday in October 2021. By then, our brand-new Recreation Community Centre will be open & visitors will be able to enjoy a new bar, dining area & and show office on the site of the old oval clubrooms. The building is under construction and we are planning an opening celebration early in 2021. Should you have any further queries please email [email protected]

23.01.2022 DRUMMING WORKSHOPS IN CALLINGTON! Hi everyone, We would like to have a Drumming Festival at the Callington Show this year. We are hoping to run 5 or 6 free workshops during the September school holidays in the Callington Hall for children and adults to learn drumming skills. These workshops will be run by professional drummers, and all equipment is supplied. We would like the Drumming group to then perform at the Callington Show on 25th October. We are applying for funding, & need to know if there's enough interest from the community. Please reply or PM me asap if you think you are interested. No commitment necessary at this stage. Everyone welcome.

06.01.2022 Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants Program Agricultural shows bring regional communities together. These shows are part of our culture. They showcase... local strengths and hospitality as well as innovative farming techniques. These shows are particularly important during times of drought and other hardships. Supporting better infrastructure The Australian Government has committed $20 million over 2 years to support agricultural shows. This funding is being delivered through the Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program (AgShows). The AgShows program provides grants of up to $500,000 to eligible regional show societies and their state and territory peak bodies. This funding can be used to repair, upgrade, build or buy showground infrastructure or attractions in regional areas. Grant activities will help keep agricultural shows running, invigorate regional communities and bridge the divide between country and city. Application Process Following an independent selection process, successful grants were announced in May 2020. A full list of successful applicants can be found at the link below https://www.agriculture.gov.au/ag-f/infrastructure/ag-shows Great to see some SA Country Shows on this list!
04.01.2022 We are sad that we won't be seeing you at the 2020 Callington Show, which would have been today. It feels a bit surreal! Watch this space for some upcoming news.....
