25.01.2022 This week is Queensland Mental Health Week 10-18 October, 2020? Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental health condition in a given year, and almost half of all Australians will experience a mental health condition at some time in their life? Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW) is an annual event that shines a spotlight on what all of us can do to look after our mental health and reach out to those who need support. This year’s theme is TAKE TIME FOR MENTA...L HEALTH with 6 steps: be active, keep learning, give, connect, take notice and care. These simple actions are internationally recognised as the Wheel of Wellbeing. Click on the following for more information: Queensland Mental Health Week. At Calliope SS this week staff and students will be participating in activities that encourage positive wellbeing focussing on Taking Time for Mental Health. See more

02.01.2022 R U OK? DAY 2020 Asking all Australians to learn what to say if someone in their life says they are not OK. ‘There’s more to say after R U OK?’ is the message for R U OK? Day 2020 (on Thursday 10 September) and it will focus on building confidence and increased skills for people so they know how to navigate a conversation with someone in their life who might be struggling. 2020 has been a very strange and for many Australians a challenging year. With everything going on in th...e world, it is even more important for us to all stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. When someone is struggling in life, it can be hard sometimes to know what to say! Remember you do not have to be an expert to keep the conversation going and if you familiarise yourself with what to say after hearing ‘No, I’m not OK’ you can show genuine intent and genuinely help someone access appropriate support. Learn what to say next at www.ruok.org.au This year R U OK? Day coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day, which will further help raise awareness of the scale of suicide globally and the role that each of us can play in prevention efforts. We want everyone to be confident in having a meaningful conversation and if someone says they’re not OK, make time to listen with an open mind, encourage action and regularly check in. See more

02.01.2022 R U Ok? Day is Thursday 10th of September. It is our national day of action when we remind us all that everyday is the day to ask R U Ok? If someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. We at Calliope SS are encouraged wear something yellow to support this day. Students will be reminded how to follow the steps of asking R U Ok?. https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask
