24.01.2022 Played some Bach in the Conservatory this afternoon for @cityofgreaterbendigo #spring #bloom

24.01.2022 How gorgeous has the rain been lately? It's so lovely to have full tanks, a full dam and to hear the rain pattering through the bush. Here's a little piece of music that was inspired by the rain. Un peu de pluis.

24.01.2022 Cally Bartlett - Minuet 1 & 2 from Suite 1 by Bach The Bach Cello Suites are some of the most loved and most heard Cello pieces across the world. This performan...ce is of the Minuet 1 and 2 from Suite No.1. I chose to perform these pieces as I enjoy the shift in mood between the major and the minor, and they seem to echo my feelings at this crazy time. Cally Bartlett is a string player involved extensively in music in the Bendigo region and beyond. She plays cello professionally across the state and is the current Music Director of the City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band. Cally is also a member of the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, heads the String department at Girton Grammar School and completes music arrangement for the Forever Young Choir each year. 23.01.2022 I’ve had a lot of excess musical energy since so many of my rehearsals and gigs have been cancelled. It’s led me to dabble in a bit of composition. Composition is something I’ve personally shied away from after a bad experience in my teenage years. I know the musical theories but struggle to let myself trust the process. But now this musical energy needs a project (or 10...) And so here it is - a little video with clips from the past few weeks, music composed and played by me. I’ve called it Life in Isolation. Stay well. xo

22.01.2022 A few weeks ago we travelled to see the Colbinabbin Silos and so began my next composition project. Scored for Piano, Viola and 2 Cellos this piece is made up of a series of musical vignettes that aim to depict the scenes on each of the Silos as well as take in their sheer size and majesty.

21.01.2022 It was amazing to return to some group music making last night. Albeit at a distance and with half the band...

21.01.2022 Trying something new with my music lately. It's been fun to piece some tracks together over the last little while. This one is called Groove To.

19.01.2022 Back in the last school holidays, it was lovely to get together with my friend Anne to rehearse and record this little piece together. I love the sound of the guitar and I love collaborating with Anne (this time last year we were getting ready for a recital together!). So I took on the challenge to write something for Guitar and Cello (with Viola added in for good measure.) I've paired it with images of the glorious Winter Sun that we get in Central Victoria. The nights may be frosty but they lead to beautiful days with streaming sunshine.

10.01.2022 I was privileged today to record a little set for Bendigo Venues and Events, @ulumbarra at Peregrine Ridge Winery, @peregrineridge. It was the most stunning setting and it was so nice to have a gig to go to again! My performance should be up on the socials next weekend.

09.01.2022 An exciting initiative from Bendigo Venues and Events for local musicians and performers. We can’t play music together, but we can still share the joy of playing and performing. I’ve got plenty of ideas already!

08.01.2022 The first time I watched Hamilton I thought The Room Where It Happens is the song of the musical! I love everything about it, the rhythms, the arrangement, Leslie Odom Jr's voice... So I set out to create my own Cello arrangement. Enjoy!

07.01.2022 We're excited to present the wonderful Cally Bartlett, a local Bendigo musician who has played the cello since her primary school days. She studied at Universi...ty of Melbourne with Zoe Knighton and now enjoys playing as much as she can in Central Victoria and beyond. Cally heads the String department at Girton Grammar School and is the Music Director of the City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band. She is also involved with the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra and enjoys playing for theatre shows in the region. 2020 has seen Cally expand her online performances and compose and then record in a variety of styles. This set is made up of 3 pieces. The first is called Julie-O by cellist Mark Summer, it combines bowed and plucking passages, chords, double stops and string slaps. The second piece is the Gigue from Suite No. 1 in G major by Bach, a staple of the solo Cello repertoire. Finally Cally performs her own arrangement of the song Mad World, originally released by Tears for Fears and made famous in the movie Donnie Darko. Tune in this Saturday evening! 06.01.2022 Excited to be involved with the BV&E Play at Home series this Sunday night. Just a small performance of some Bach, but I hope you are all able to tune in and have a listen.

05.01.2022 A lovely afternoon of music in the @bendigoartgallery to launch the @bendigosymphony 2020 season. What a lovely space to play in! Looking forward to an exciting year ahead. @ Bendigo Art Gallery

05.01.2022 Some tracks that Brad and I played iso-live as Sunny Disposition (which is the band where I met Brendan Bartlett).

04.01.2022 I find myself seeking soothing sounds and calm in this crazy time. And so here is my next little composition project, this time heavily inspired by Brian Eno’s Music for Airports (which has been big on my iso playlist). Written for string quartet and named after its inspiration. https://youtu.be/-VJ8l96KfBM

04.01.2022 A fabulous opportunity for aspiring songwriters!

02.01.2022 A little melody that was skipping around my head and I turned it into a little ditty... Sounded quaint to me (also I love the word quaint!) This was great fun to put together!

02.01.2022 So... 2020 hey? Not the year we’d all hoped for really, and I am desperately missing playing music with friends. In a bid to calm my aching heart I put this together tonight, my first try at this sort of thing. Enjoy a little Gershwin Lullaby and stay safe and well.

01.01.2022 Tune in this Saturday at 7pm to hear the little set I got to record at the spectacular Peregrine Ridge Winery!
