25.01.2022 A must read. So important knowledge is power

23.01.2022 Hi Mummas, remember to listen to your body

23.01.2022 Its called labour because its hard work. Its physically hard work that you will do. You work hard, your body works hard and your brain works hard. Like eve...ry great athlete, a birthing mother needs a support team. A team that will cheer her, support her, encourage her, meet her every need to get to the finish line. Now is not the time for pity. Now is the time to be encouraged towards the end. Photo by Shutter and Film Share directly from here, please do not repost.

16.01.2022 H A N D H O L D I N G There is a lot of hand holding through labour it is said (although anecdotal evidence) that a womans grip can more than... double in labour. A lot of people focus on the labour but have you got someone to hold your hand when this baby comes along, when the sleep is minimal but the needs are high, when the nourishment is crucial and the time is poor. Have you got the supporters in your corner who will be there when you call, at any time? You might have planned for your labour but what does the immediate postpartum period look like? #bethechange #strongwomen #withknowledgecomesconfidence #mindfulness #postpartum #recovery #birth #pregnancy #labour #connectingpartners #becomingparents #leadersinculturalchange #creatingpositiveexperiences #birthwithconfidence #toolboxforbirth #thereisnobirthlikeacalmbirth #consciousparenting #childbirtheducation #registeredmidwife #haveyourbestbirth #trust #surrender #innerstrength See more

16.01.2022 The hormones of birth and sex are identical - Kate Dimpfl And this is no mistake! ... When I mentioned nipple and clitoral stimulation in my Calmbirth weekend workshop yesterday I am only too sure some of them might have thought - hang on guuuurl? Did we sign up for sex-ed classes?? And look, I know we just met and usually I dont move quite so fast but frankly, I want women to know that there are ways and means of producing more oxytocin within her body to help naturally induce her body into labour (as it stimulates the uterine muscles to contract) or to re-invigorate her labour if it has slowed or stalled (hello move to the hospital!). So lets explore Sexual pleasure connecting and being in our bodies, breath-work, surrendering to the sensations, riding the waves, vocalisations = oxytocin production Labour and birth connecting and being in our bodies, breathwork, surrendering to the sensations, riding the waves, vocalisations = oxytocin production Also identical! In both cases we are stimulating the same hormones, sexual organs, brain activity and receptors (oxytocin receptors increase significantly during pregnancy too so theyre just waiting to be energised ) So I am here to tell you that your birth preparation and your labour can be FUN! It can be a partner or a solo activity so get creative You may prefer to explore this in the privacy of your own homes but also know you can ask your Midwives for a short window of time to restore your safe, calm, private environment in hospital - thats all the explanation thats needed If youre intrigued to learn more then feel free to discuss with your care provider beforehand (especially if in a high risk group) and check out the Orgasmic Birth Documentary/Book. Googling will also provide a lot of anecdotal and scientific evidence for these oxytocin elevating activities! So ladies, step into your feminine power and ignite your inner birthing goddess Trust me, youll thank me later . . . @jasminedowling

11.01.2022 Maybe this a part of your birth prefernce ? yn

11.01.2022 Reposted from @bodywise_birthwise The baby whose cord is clamped early (within first 30-60 seconds of birth) loses the iron contained within that blood. . . ...An average placental transfusion contains 30 to 35 mg of additional iron. This is equivalent to the iron contained in 100 LITRES (26 gallons) of breastmilk. . . This transfusion typically occurs within the 3 minutes. It may take longer or alternatively it may be complete In only 1 minute. A quicker transfusion often occurs when oxytocic drugs are administered to the mother to contract the uterus. . . Not surprisingly early clamping of the cord has been linked with an increased risk of anaemia in infancy. . . A meta analysis suggested that early cord clamping increases the risk of infant anaemia by five times at 1 to 2 days and doubles the risk at age 2 to 3 months, compared with clamping at two minutes or later. . . In this analysis early clamping of these babies cords also had lower iron stores at six months. . . Other studies have suggested that the hazards of early cord clamping are even greater for babies of anaemic mothers. . . Early cord clamping has also been linked with elevated blood lead levels at six months, as a consequence of lower iron stores. . . The negative consequences of early cord clamping were recognised as far back as 1801, when Eramus Darwin wrote: . . Another thing very injurious to the child is the tying and cutting of the naval string too soon; which should always be left till the child has not only repeatedly breathed but till all pulsation in the cord ceases. As otherwise the child is much weaker than it ought to be, a part of the blood being left in the placenta which ought to have been in the child. . . @monetnicolebirths . . #sarahbuckley #cordclamping #waitforwhite #iron #babyneedsthisblood #anaemia #birth #mamawise #optimalcordclamping #delayedcordclamping #oxytocin #beyourbabysadvocate #doula #birthmatters #placentawise #bodywisebirthwise Word credit @bodywise_birthwise See more

11.01.2022 Today is Bereaved Father's Day. A day for remembrance, Bereaved Father's Day provides an opportunity for us all to acknowledge and recognise all the Fathers wh...o have experienced stillbirth. It is well known that Dad's may grieve differently to women, often grieving silently whilst at the same time trying to support their partner through the most difficult time of their life. Today we at Still Aware acknowledge that you are still a Father. Please, speak about your angels. Tell your friends about them. Say their name today. Please know that you are not alone in your journey of grief. ------------------ YOU ARE STILL A FATHER Share this post to show your support and acknowledgement for all the Fathers who may not have their baby to hold in their arms today. . . #BereavedFathersDay #DadsHurtToo

10.01.2022 It's all in the hips...

10.01.2022 We don't value the strength it takes to nurse a child every few hours a night for months on end, because a) we think we're crap at it, and b) no-one says 'Wow, ...look how strong that woman is, she is a mother!' Nor do we value the sheer tenacity and strength it takes to juggle the needs of so many others, to the detriment of our own. - excerpt from my book Mama Rising: Discovering the New You Through Motherhood.

02.01.2022 OFFER ENDS THIS WEEKEND 31st MAY Find out what the 'magic' is about Calmbirth and experience for yourself why there's no birth like a Calmbirth. Some couples sa...y the 'magic' is in the CONNECTION and SUPPORT they feel as a couple, from their partner and towards their unborn baby in working together as a team to birth their baby. Some couples say, it's having a positive birth experience, regardless of how they birth thus reducing their chances of perinatal anxiety and depression. Some say, it's the confidence a woman gains in her own body and in her ability to birth their own baby, whilst gaining more confidence in the parenting process. Some couples say the magic is in their partner gaining confidence in supporting and holding space for them during pregnancy, labour, birth and in parenting. Some say, it's how Calmbirth prepares couples for ALL birth journeys working with intervention, C - section or previous birth trauma. Couples gain a better understanding of birth as a natural and normal process, but also gain a greater understanding if intervention is necessary, as the program details how to mentally and emotionally prepare themselves if intervention is necessary thus reducing their chances of perinatal anxiety and depression. Some couples say, the magic is in the mind & body connection in birth and the Calmbirth guided relaxations that help release their fear and anxiety. Some couples say, it's because Calmbirth is evidence based, holistic and uses complementary medicine techniques to reduce pharmacological pain relief during labour and childbirth. These include: Acupressure for pregnancy, labour and birth Visualisation Meditation Massage Breathing Active birthing positioning Some couples say, the magic lies with the RAPPORT and TRUST that they build with their Calmbirth Educators who they know are ALL trained midwives, doulas and birth professionals that have worked in ALL facets of birth. Tell us what YOU think the 'magic' is about our Calmbirth program when you BOOK and experience why there's no birth like a Calmbirth for yourselves. To find a Calmbirth Educator near you and to BOOK a Calmbirth course go to: https://calmbirth.com.au/calmbirth-classes/ BOOK ANY Calmbirth course before the end of this weekend 31st May to receive your 30% discount - this offer also applies to ALL our Hospital Calmbirth courses.
