25.01.2022 Harold has used the technique of reverse pyrography for his beautiful work portraying the Storey Bridge in Brisbane. Members wanting to explore this technique can borrow the DVD by Sue Walters from the club library (and have a chat to Harold who can pass on a few tips) .



24.01.2022 Stunning instruments made by Vince. These are 'tenor round strummer 430' ukeleles. Vince has used Tasmanian Blackwood for the body, finger board and bridge. The sound board is hoop pine and the saddle and nut are purple gidgee.The neck and body clamp are made from 12mm ply and finished with 2 pack polyester, automotive grade. The amplifier body is finished with 2 pack clear polyester. Vince is currently trying out different finishes and we look forward to seeing his next creation.

23.01.2022 Another beautiful box made by Paul. He has used a combination of Birds-Eye Huon Pine, Blackheart Sassafras, Tiger Myrtle and Walnut with impressive results.



21.01.2022 The Caloundra Woodworking Club is greatly appreciative of a grant of $1500 from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council towards the purchase of a Heartstart Defibrillator. A further $500 was contributed by Division 2, Local Councillor Tim Dwyer's office. Thanks to both for enabling this purchase which is a valuable life saving addition to the club's first aid equipment.

21.01.2022 Great to see members back at the club and resuming their woodwork projects. The photos show a recently completed solitary bee nesting box and two bandsaw boxes in different stages of completion.

19.01.2022 Members will be pleased to hear that the clubrooms are reopening slowly in accordance with government guidelines. Initially numbers to the club are restricted, guidelines are in place for cleaning of the equipment, members are asked to work on their own and please take along your own coffee cup. Please phone the club ahead of the day you plan to attend to reserve a place for the day. ... Happy woodworking!

14.01.2022 Over the past month Les has been working on this intricate tow truck which boasts a working hoist. He has used an assortment of timbers which include cedar and pine, with a lacquer finish. Believe he is about to start another one soon.

13.01.2022 These photos were taken at the Caloundra Woodworking Club's Open Days last weekend. It was wonderful to see the diverse talents of our members come together to create fantastic displays.

13.01.2022 You are invited to the Caloundra Woodworking Club's annual Open Days this weekend. See an extensive range of exhibits by skilled woodworkers. There are many items for sale, a monster raffle each day and refreshments for sale. Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th Oct, 9am to 2pm in the clubrooms. Entry by gold coin donation. Southern end of Ulm St south, near Plover Pde, Caloundra.



13.01.2022 A small group carving course will commence on Monday 20th January. The course will run over 3 consecutive mornings (Mon to Wed). Barbara will demonstrate and supervise the making of a spoon for each participant. These before and after photos show the cut timber templates and some finished spoons. Members note: There is only one place left available. If interested please give the club a call as soon as possible to put your name on the list.

10.01.2022 Our club is closed until further notice due to the Covid-19 virus in accordance with government advice.

10.01.2022 "Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" from the Caloundra Woodworking Club. Please note: The club will be closed from Dec 25th over the Christmas/New Year period and will reopen on Thursday January 2nd 2020.

09.01.2022 Things to do while the club rooms are closed: -First and foremost please stay well and follow recommended health guidelines. Re Woodworking:... -Tidy up your home workshop. -Get out any unfinished projects and consider what can be progressed at home. -Check home timber supplies and work out your next project or two. -Research online and watch You Tube videos to learn some new techniques. -Members can send photos and descriptions of recently finished projects to the club email address and ask for them to be shared on the club Facebook page. Look after yourself and your families and we look forward to seeing members back at the club once restrictions are lifted.

03.01.2022 On Tuesday Michael Mogy from 'Hardware for Creative Finishes' will be attending the club. This is a great opportunity for members to purchase brassware, hinges,catches etc and veneer inlays for their box making projects etc. Michael will be set up on Tuesday 4th August at about 9.00am.

03.01.2022 Some percussion instruments made by creative club members. The first 2 photos show a Djembe drum topped with a calf skin and Bodhráns with goat skins attached made by Richard. The remaining photos show a Cajón drum and a Log drum made by Rob. It is great to see the diversity of skills and interests of members.

02.01.2022 Please note: Cancellation of visit from Michael Mogy from 'Hardware for Creative Finishes'. Unfortunately Michael has had to cancel his planned visit to the club on Tuesday due to the current Covid border restrictions as he is travelling from NSW. He plans to reschedule in the future when restrictions ease.
