25.01.2022 wonder if last years kindy children remember the silkworms that turned into moths and laid all these eggs? Well look now all the eggs have hatched and we have lots of silkworms and would you believe they are very noisy. These silkworms are now spinning silk for their cocoons, ready to change. Some have even turned into moth ready to lay eggs again.

Thank you Richard from Ocean Life Education for intoducing us to some fascinating live marine animals...the children particularly enjoyed hearing about how the 'Thorny Seastars' eat their food! 24.01.2022 This week we reconnected with our friends at Aminya Facility Blue Care by having a 'Zoom' session with them...we sang and danced and shared with them our love for all things Lego! Our intergenerational connections are very important to us at Caloundra Community Kindy, and we believe the joy and laughter these opportunities bring, will be of enormous value for both our children and the residents. 18.01.2022 This term at Kindy we have been thinking about our environment and how we can help to take care of the places where we love to play. Ali from Ten Little Pieces talked with us about sustainability and the reusable alternatives to single use plastics, and she explained that we can help to protect our sea animals and oceans from plastic pollution by picking up ten little pieces of rubbish. Many of the children at Caloundra Community Kindy already have a great wealth of knowledge of the importance of looking after our environment, and it is through experiences like Ten Little Pieces that our children have a real sense of ownership in all that they do. 12.01.2022 Early Childhood Australia have endorsed a research project being conducted in Scotland on the benefits of outdoor play in connecting children with the natural environment and promoting mental health. One of our teachers, Anne, has a Certificate in Nature Pedagogy which helps us design safe, healthy natural play for children. As a team we know that during the COVID-19 children have been locked down and not able to play outside in parks or playgrounds. Outdoor play is esse...ntial for childrens physical and psychological well-being. This is why we are implementing a fully outdoor kindy program at the moment. 10.01.2022 Recently Kendall, our director went to visit the wonderful team at Blackbird.Co .What a wonderful place for parents and parents to be that Eliza ( a past kindy mum) has created. There is no stone unturned, they have a paediatrician visit every Friday, a paediatric physio, sleep specialists and even feeding fussy toddler workshops.
