25.01.2022 Here's Tim Horan training on the beach in Caloundra. Did you know, in 1999 the Wallabies had their training camp right here in Caloundra and trained at our club, at Lighthouse Park? They then proceeded to win the World Cup!! Can you believe it?! It's said that the camp was a big contributing factor to the win. Coach Rod Macqueen was set on changing the culture and environment at the Wallabies, to being professional whilst still having fun. He chose to have a camp away from t...he spotlight where not only the players attended, but players' families as well. Owen Finegan said to Athlete's Voice, "That built a strong camaraderie, some really close friendships off and on the field. We used to all ride pushbikes from the apartments to the training ground, all have lunch together. Players wives and families would be invited to join us at times. It was like a community of Wallabies, not just the 35 in the squad." #throwbackthursday See more
