24.01.2022 Amazing results from Cairns today!! Wish we could have all been there cheering you on! Congrats to Bobcat and Goanna for their full Ironman finishes! A cracking debut at this distance for Bobcat 11:41:01 and a 7th place! And 12:52:22 for Goanna this might not be a PB but it’s a podium - 2nd place! Freaking brilliant, both of you! And more excellence from our Ibis ladies in the 70.3 both last minute sign ups I believe but that didn’t stop PC and Stork both having a brilliant race a 3rd place podium for PC and a 4th place for Stork. Amazing!

22.01.2022 Getting to know your fellow Ibis.... Committee edition Echidna 1. What's your best discipline? Swim, Bike, Run, afterparty? I’m kinda a big thing in the water. They call me the Hamster of the Sea. 2. Where were you born? North side Brisvegas 3. What do you do in the real world? Town planner for the State government... 4. What's your favourite food? Frog’s chunky meat pie 5. What's your dream holiday? Bike packing with Frog around Germany for the beer and Italy for the food 6. What's your finest sporting performance? One fine March morning in 2016, Aardvark had arranged for a group of us to do the Bribie Tri as part of our Cairns Ironman program. We hopped in the Bang Bus for the 80km/hr trip down the Bruce to Bribie. I didn’t realise triathlon was a contact sport until that day when Spatchy (getting off to one of his notorious quick starts) started swinging haymakers at the first marker. Despite the start I had a great race breaking the hour for a sprint tri, seeing my training buddies all over the course and taking out my age category. Aardvark had no time for glory hunters, so before we could gather our mugs, he told us to get on our bikes and ride home. We worked on our fourth leg during a Sunday arvo debrief in his shed. Great day out. See more

21.01.2022 Getting to know your fellow Ibis Tamiesha (no animal name yet )... 1. What's your best discipline? Swim, Bike, Run, afterparty? The run I'd say even though it's my least favourite. 2. Where were you born? In Melbourne 3. What do you do in the real world? I work at Coles part-time whilst studying business at QUT in Brisbane... 4. What's your favourite food? Too many to choose from but maybe Thai. Also live for a good donut!! 5. What's your dream holiday? I really want to live in another country for a while, maybe the UK 6. What's your finest sporting performance? Probably some of my school sport achievements like making the regional team even though I actually didn't go to the state trials. See more

09.01.2022 4pm Fraser Park session this afternoon CANCELLED due to weather.

08.01.2022 **Event Update** Well, this is the news we really hoped we didn’t have to deliver this year but with a very heavy heart, we are confirming that IRONMAN West...ern Australia and IRONMAN 70.3 Western Australia 2020 will not be going ahead. 2020 continues to throw everything at us, and while we’ve remained optimistic the situation would have improved by December, but due to the ongoing uncertainty of international and domestic border restrictions, we regret to advise that IRONMAN Western Australia and IRONMAN 70.3 Western Australia cannot take place as planned on 6 December 2020. We know this will bring on a mix of emotions, many of you will be disappointed by this news and others will understandably be relieved to have some certainty. Please know that our team is gutted. We really wanted to end the year on a positive and see you back doing what you love. All currently registered athletes have been sent an email from us today with details on their options, but if you haven't received this first email, please contact us at [email protected]. While we are prevented from holding the event in 2020, we are already looking forward to all of us coming back stronger in 2021. Our team would like to thank you for your patience and support of the event and look forward to seeing you on the start line next year.

08.01.2022 Getting to know your fellow Ibis Greyhound 1. What's your best discipline? Swim, Bike, Run, afterparty? Swim maybe... if I wasn't scared of open water swimming! I come from a competitive swimming background but have quite a fear of sharks which hinders me somewhat! 2. Where were you born? Brighton in the UK. 3. What do you do in the real world? I was a primary school teacher and tutor for children with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia but now I homeschoo...l my daughter and run a voluntary support group on the Sunshine Coast for other homeschoolers. 4. What's your favourite food? Salad and hot chips! 5. What's your dream holiday? I have been lucky enough to travel quite a bit over the years but I think the holiday we took at Christmas was one of my favourites visiting America, UK, France, Germany and Switzerland. The Black Forest covered in snow was chocolate box beautiful! Next on my bucket list would have to be Lapland and the Northern lights! 6. What's your finest sporting performance? I was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it resulted in my dealing with a fair few health issues over the past few years including subluxing joints which I was told would mean I would be unlikely to run again, so completing the Sunshine Coast Marathon last year was definitely a sporting moment that I am proud of. It reminds me that we should never limit ourselves on others' expectations of what we can achieve! See more

07.01.2022 Getting to know your fellow Ibis... Committee edition Seagull 1. What's your best discipline? Swim, Bike, Run, afterparty? After Party 2. Where were you born? Seymour VIC (Army Brat) 3. What do you do in the real world? Try not to work... 4. What's your favourite food? Cheese, Crackers & Beer 5. What's your dream holiday? Travelling outback Australia for longer than 4 weeks 6. What's your finest sporting performance? I was a star athlete all through Primary School, but I wasn’t disciplined enough to spend my spare time training when I got to High School. Hmmm... I’ve just realise that’s what I do now. See more
