24.01.2022 STAIR CLIMB CHALLENGE After connecting with Madeleine Fontillas Ronk through a #hashtag on social media, we met with a team of tower runners! We had initially planned for Cal to trial & experience indoor Stair Climbing, with future plans to increase his times , steps etc. - Although, he had different plans & on his first go climbed 54 Floors of the Wells Fargo Tower - totalling 1147 Steps! 16.01.2022 Cal's Trainer Jeff at Abilities Recovery Center really pushed Cal today with a circuit of exercises and activities that really challenged him physically but also mentally! There are times like anyone the little negative voice can pop up in Cal's head "you can't do this" "it's too hard" and Cal can get frustrated as he knows what he wants to do but he really has to concentrate on the message from his brain to his body Today Jeff helped Cal to switch the negative self talk to... positive self talk and using language like "this is easy" to help Cal absolutely smash some of the new challenges that were thrown at him! Cal's trainers aren't just helping improve Cal's mobility and functional movement to walk independently but they are helping with all aspects like mental skills training (Self Talk), Memory and Speech by just incorporating this into his training! #calswilltowalk #tbisurvivor #arc

13.01.2022 - AMERICA AUSTRALIA - After a very inspiring 3 months in America, Cal has jumped on that plane headed home for Australia. We would like to take this chance to thank EVERY single one of you that has supported Cal. From the continuous messages, the trainers who have pushed him every step of the way, the friends & family that never give up, right down to the strangers who have become life long friends. To every single person we crossed paths with, we can't thank you enough f...or the absolute love you've shown Cal. A huge part of our lives is coming to the realisation that although progress is absolutely essential for his health, we place a huge importance on his wellbeing and making sure he knows he has full support in this journey and how easy is that - with all of you! A mixture of boxing, yoga, balance & flexibility training. He even has 2x Trainers that are dedicated to him. Cal is back in the Gym & is set for his 6 pack now! Cal still amazes us - Today we will be attempting to climb the US Bank Tower in Downtown LA which is home to the tallest stairwell west of the Mississippi. We are up against 1,664 steps (75 stories) He will begin at 3:45PM.
