25.01.2022 REEF TODAY - Arthur Bay at Magnetic Island off Townsville. A quick visit with kids, so just the shaky GoPro underwater and a bit of aerial during break between ...the clouds. We didn't get around to Florence Bay as road is in dire need of repair. The reef off Arthur Bay was surprisingly good, but need to go back when viz is better! #thisisqueensland #visitqueensland #australia #magneticisland #greatbarrierreef #seeaustralia #exploretnq #citizensofgbr #gbrfoundation #scubadiving #oceanview #fortheearth #onlocation #divequeensland #underwater #snorkelling #marinelife #wildlifephotographer #underwaterphotograph TTNQ See more

20.01.2022 WHAT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING ON GREAT BARRIER REEF TODAY? Very latest REEF TODAY, filmed yesterday Friday 21 and Thursday 20 on reef. Presented by Gareth Phillips, filmed and produced by Stuart Ireland. This imagery is all recent, unlike a majority of imagery circulating in mainstream media and online. Calm conditions, increased UV and warm February waters have caused some minor bleaching on certain species and individual colonies. It's still too early to predict what will happ...en, but the weekend conditions are bringing rain, cloud and cooler conditions which will help reduce heat stress. I encourage all image makers on reef to capture and send RECENT imagery to eye on the reef Great Barrier Reef Marine Park , TTNQ and REEF TODAY. Please don't send old imagery. For latest reef health reports GBRMPA are posting weekly updates. For latest reef education updates Reef Teach, Cairns, Australia For latest REEF TODAY updates please visit and follow our Vimeo channel https://vimeo.com/channels/reef FINAL NOTE, I must stress that even if we escape bleaching this year, the reef is still under enormous pressure from increasing sea temperatures, ocean acidification, among others. While I believe only the reef can save itself, we can protect and nurture it by changing our ways right now, but it all starts with us as individuals. Everyone must do there part #LoveTheReef #greatbarrierreef #reefteachcairns #reefteach #calypsoreefimagery #reeftoday #coral #coralbleaching #exploreFNQ #nature

19.01.2022 Celebrating the Great Barrier Reef, Today in International Day for Biological Diversity. What better place to see this, the Far North GBR. REEF TODAY was filmed there in OCT 2017 after the first bleaching, and as you can see from this and recent reports from Julia Summering and Johnny Gaskell, the biological diversity is still thriving! Can't wait to get back out there with Spirit of Freedom and Mike Ball soon. For all the latest REEF TODAY episodes goto our site https://www.calypsoproductions.com.au/reef-today/

14.01.2022 Queen Elizabeth visited Cairns Yesterday Some positive news for our city ( PLEASE SHARE !) amongst all the gloom and doom being spread. Her successful arrival and docking at the newly refurbished Trinity wharf is testament of the tremendous works completed by Ports North and associated companies/contractors over past 18 months, widening and deepening our inlet and upgrading the wharf to welcome more cruise ships. Cairns is open for business, the weather is great, reef is look...ing good and we have been welcoming increased interstate visitors despite severe downturn in Chinese visitors due to Coronavirus. Important for everyone and locals to remain positive, Cairns is still the best place to visit in Australia for holidays (yes i'm biased, but well travelled). For those worrying about Corona on this ship , I have good information they prefer their Martinis, shaken not stirred! #thisiscairns #exploreFNQ #seeaustralia #cairns #cairnstoday #queensland #TTNQ #cunard #cunardchat

Maybe 2020 has provided the opportunity for everyone do the same, in their own space. What new species, ideas or inspiration have you found? See more
