23.01.2022 Welcome to the Camaray Farm page. We hope you enjoy following our farming journey as we seek to be good stewards of the land entrusted to us. We pray you learn from our mistakes and successes.

16.01.2022 Raking the lucerne as we post! Doing it at night same day as mowing to maximise leaf retention. Hoping to bale on Sunday night.

14.01.2022 Our lucerne squares sold out a fortnight ago. Thanks to all of you who purchased. We are planning to harvest 2nd cut lucerne again in December 2019.

12.01.2022 Used Paul McKnight and his team from Incite Silviculture to undertake the 3rd pruning lift to 6.3 metres in our 2011 yellow stringybark and 2014 multi storey farming planting yesterday. The wide spacing of the multi storey farming planting meant that there were many larger branches and forks in the silvertop and spotted gum between 4.5-6.3m. The closer forestry spacing in yellow stringybark has meant that branches were much smaller. Therefore pruning was quicker and impo...rtantly - cheaper! The photo below shows Clement pruning a yellow stringy. Over the winter I'll thin both stands for firewood to be burnt and sold in 2021.

10.01.2022 Following are a few photos from the multi storey farming site taken on 25 April 2019. Brome grasses are growing particularly well after a tough summer/autumn period. This paddock has been part of normal grazing rotation over 6 months and is one of our better paddocks after the lucerne. And its growing timber at the same time!

09.01.2022 Earlier today we mowed the lucerne paddock for our 3rd cut this season. Raking tonight. Hopefully baling on Sunday. The performance of the lucerne on dry, red soil without irrigation has been a revelation. Can't wait to get the paddock into the grazing rotation.

09.01.2022 Grazing lucerne during last week. No bloat issues after strip grazing 180hd for a few hours each day over 6 days. Usually there are a few animals that you have to watch for bloat. Only problem was them mooing incessantly for hours wanting to get back into the paddock after they were moved out!

08.01.2022 80mm of rain here in farm since 2 April. Great timing.
