With every burger ordered, a Local Matters token is handed over to you to drop into the jar of your choice - Camberwell Hockey Club! 19.01.2022 The Camberwell Hockey Club wishes to recruit a new Club Administrator following the resignation of Narelle Richardson from the role at the end of 2020. The role is a paid role and the successful applicant will be an employee of the Club. The Club Administrator is both the internal and external communication point of call for the club. There are four clear roles in the position: Membership Registrar... Management of the Club’s assets and facilities Management of contractors and visiting tradespeople Bookkeeping of the Club’s accounts Applicants must be self-starters, possess proficient computer skills and appreciate and preferably had experience working with volunteers. Bookkeeping experience is not essential. Applicants must have (or are willing to get) a valid Working with Children Check Card and a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate. The role is part-time with hours fluctuating during the course of the year with an average of 10 hours a week during the course of a year. Initial enquiries should be directed to the Club Secretary, John Unkles, at [email protected]. A full job description is also available from John. 14.01.2022 Congratulations to our U18 Boys team who won the U18 Indoor Club Championships! The team, coached by Scott Boucher, Xavier Harrington and Andrew Henderson, progressed to the Gold Medal match with a dramatic penalty corner goal after the siren in their Semi-Final against Waverley. CHC came up against Altona and took an early lead then were able to continue that strong start to claim a 5-3 victory. ... Shout out to Lachlan Avil who umpired the U18 Girls Gold Medal match. 12.01.2022 This week Hamish Ridland presents Phil Merriman, who joined Camberwell HC during minkey (now Hookin2Hockey) and played through the ranks to State League 1. Phil then moved into coaching with stints at TEM, Powerhouse and Footscray before moving to the AFL industry working in high performance with Hawthorn Football Club and is currently Head of Strength & Conditioning at Melbourne Football Club. You’ll hear how Phil got into hockey and played a role linking our generational pl...ayers in the early 2000s. You’ll hear the guys’ memories of Jesse Foster and learn about Phil’s instrumental role in establishing the Jesse Foster Cup which is played each year between TEM and Camberwell to highlight men’s mental health. Listen to learn about how Phil moved into AFL strength and conditioning, working at Hawthorn and Melbourne and discover some great insight on hockey training and recovery. However, the biggest event of that year was the Camberwell Men’s SL1 (PL) team played out an epic grand final against arch rivals Waverley to win the premiership 6-5 in extra time making it 4 premierships in 7 years (after winning 1984, 1986, 1988 and 1890). Men's and Women's Coordinators, Tim Oldham and Pip Mann, will detail the transition programs and pre-season arrangements. We'll hear from five recently graduated pl...ayers on topics including differences playing Senior hockey, balancing school commitments and getting involved in other areas of the club. You'll hear how the Senior sections manage player communications and how team placements and weekly selections are managed. In the final section of the episode we present the audio from the Junior Section awards which were held via Zoom last month.
