19.01.2022 We thought you might like an update on how the kids of Soksan Village have been coping during covid-19 and the school being closed until November, in line with the Government rules. Here is an update direct from Cambodia: "Soksan kids. During this covid-19 some of the kids live in soksan village, they are going back to the public school. But they study only 3 days in one week. Some of the kids start from Monday-Wednesday, and some start from Thursday-Friday. ... At public school they do not allow the students sit at one table together, So they only sit one table each. At public school no food or some snack to sell for the kids to eat during this covid-19. They need to bring rice or some snack from their home to eat at school. The kids in soksan village always asking the teachers when SIS reopen again. The kids felt so lonely at home, because they really miss their class so much. Thank you so much."

15.01.2022 Yesterday we opened the school for everyone - parents, guardians and students who would like to study at Soksan International School (SIS). We invited them to come and get the application forms. Everyone is so happy because they have been waiting for a long time to return to study at SIS. SIS will be enrolled new and old students from Monday 12th till 28th October, 2020. So as soon as the Ministry of Education says YES, we are ready to have students in each class or grade t...o teach by following the their instructions. At the same time, we give a monkey to each child to cheer them up and a toy for them to play with. We are also hoping to have brand new uniforms ready to welcome the children back to school too! If you can help please donate to our uniform campaign to help us make the uniforms in time. https://donorbox.org/uniform-campaign-2020

11.01.2022 Our beautiful teachers getting prepared for the return to school of our children.. busy preparing their lesson plans and getting last minute jobs done around the school... We cannot wait to welcome back the students

08.01.2022 Finally, after 8 long months, Soksan International School was able to open the doors to our students again! We are so excited to welcome everyone back, and all of the students and teachers are very excited to be back! We will have some safety measures in places as we reopen, but for the most part school will be back to normal! We had 245 students starting on Tuesday, this is the total number of previously enrolled students who have re-enrolled after the COVID break. ... In a week or so, once the returning students have settled, we will also be starting some new students. We have about 50 applications for new students already and are expecting more once we announce which grade levels have space. This is very exciting news for our school as the numbers continue to increase.. however, this will also mean that to continue to provide free education for these children, we are going to need more monthly sponsors. Are you in a position to help us educate these beautiful children? Every dollar counts, sponsorship is generally $50 per month, however, you can select any amount you are able to contribute. 06.01.2022 Here is another update direct from SIS, Cambodia... This time we have another update on all the amazing work Mr Men is doing around our school, and how clever he is at creating something from nothing: "Mr. Men he is a great maintenance man. He always knows how to repair everything in the school. He reused the second hand stuff to become a new one and we also can use that stuff again. So we don't need to spend much money to buy new stuff. If we can or know how to reuse all of... the things around us. He knows how to fix electronic things. On Thursday afternoon he made some new stuff for gardening for digging the land and removing the grass. Everything is going very well because we have him to make the new stuff for us. He is very smart and we are very lucky that our school has him is a maintenance in SIS. Thank you so much for sharing love with us." 04.01.2022 Hello everyone! Today I'm going to tell you about our adventure trip. This week our Cycling team is heading to Rolous. In the early morning, as usual we came to check our bikes and left the school around 7:30. We rode south on the National Road until we arrived a bridge, we stopped and relaxed about 5 minutes then we continued the journey. After we've done riding maybe 15 kilometers, we stopped again and had some water. We relaxed about 5 minutes and then we continued maybe ...7 kilometers we didn't know that we have passed the corner that we wanted to go. We kep riding until we reached one shop and bought some drinks. We asked the sellers about the direction. Unfortunately the sellers said we had passed the way to Rolous, we needed to return. After saying thank you to the friendly and kind seller, we headed back. We rode back maybe 20 minutes and we arrived the path to Rolous and we kept riding until we reached there around 10:30. But what a surprise there was no water to swim, so we rode to a pagoda called Rolous Pagoda. We stopped there and relaxed about 10 minutes. Around 11 o'clock we left the pagoda and we went straight home. We arrived our school at 12:25 we had some water and relaxed about 5 minutes and we had lunch together. After lunch we watched movie at our school. Thank you! Chheng Ho

03.01.2022 SIS Update - This time we have an update for you direct from SIS, Cambodia on the progress of the work they have been making in the garden: "Gardening. They started to grow chines spinach. First step we need to dig the land and remove the grass out from the land that we repaired to grow our chines spinach. After we finish repairing the land we should keep the land alone maybe around 2 or 3 day before we start to grow. Then after 2 or 3 days we start to grow on the land that ...we dug already. For one day we water our chines spinach only 2 times per a day, one in the morning and one for the evening. Every day we don't need to look after it every minute, but we only help to remove the small grass out from the land. This kind of chines spinach spending to grow really slow, because we need to keep them for a while and then we remove one by one to grow in the land. when the vegetables are big enough to cut to make food to eat. And then we give the vegetables to the lady that work for SIS to cook for all the teachers and children in the school. Thank you" The staff are doing a wonderful job of working around the school to help become sustainable, but there is still a long way to go. The Cambodian Kids Foundation works very hard to build a better life for the people of Soksan Village and we need your help. Please contact us to find out how you can help.
