24.01.2022 Following on from the Yanadas learning story about life cycles of plants and propegation- the children have headed out on nature walks this week with their educators to see what plants they could find in our local community. In order to show respect to the land, The children looked, touched, smelt and photographed the plants they found and only took from the ground. They brought back some souvenirs and photos to share with one another and explore further.

21.01.2022 Despite NAIDOC week being moved, we decided to have our own in house celebrations yesterday. We would like to say a huge thank you to Karen Armstrong for organising a special treat for the children - the didgeridoo, (thank you Lachlan Ting) face paint and dancing like kangaroos led by her daughter Kyanne. Karen is a Wiradjuri woman, a Board member of Kurranulla Aboriginal Corporation, actively engaging in community as well as working with NSW Department of Education as an Aboriginal Education Officer. Karen has been working with management, our educators and children to bring further cultural awareness to our service and has been such a valuable resource to us. We shared an afternoon tea of fresh berries, dried fruit, pigs face bruschetta and thyme damper.

19.01.2022 Father’s Day during COVID Unfortunately we are still unable to hold our usual events, so the Educators have put in the extra work to make sure we can still celebrate with our amazing Dad’s- some takeaway Father’s Day treats instead! We hope all our Dad’s, Grandads and father figures have a wonderful Fathers Day

16.01.2022 After a week of rain, some people with children might be praying for sunshine. Not us at Cambrai! We believe there’s no such thing as bad weather- just inappropriate clothing! And we love that our families and children support this belief! There is so much to be learned from playing in the rain! -navigating slippery terrain -experience rain first hand ... -connect with nature -explore a different sensory experience - learn about properties of water through their chosen way of playing in it -learn how to look after themselves in different weather conditions See more

15.01.2022 Acknowledgement of Country Workshop Last night our Educators came together to be guided by Karen Armstrong and Kristen Edwards in writing our own personal Acknowledgement of Country. An Acknowledgement of Country aims to show respect, welcome and Acknowledge the first people of our land and highlight the cultural significance of where we all meet. Before the meeting, we gathered ideas from the children of what they thought should be included as well.... We brought all of our ideas and the children’s together to create a draft to be approved for our service. We were all very excited about what we were able to create together. A huge thank you to Karen and Kristen for all their support and guidance. We can’t wait to share it with you all See more

14.01.2022 Sharing special moments Karlee shared her special news with the children today. Some children had clued on that Karlee’s belly has gotten bigger (we can always count on honesty from children) Today we found out there is a baby growing and had a gender reveal together. The children even helped brainstorm some names ideas!

12.01.2022 As Mum’s, It is rare to have time for yourself. Make next Thursday night a priority to take this time. This workshop will be so worth it! There is a huge gap in supporting Mother’s mental health, and here is a big step towards just that Https://facebook.com/events/s/motherload-virtual-workshops/294740784948930/?ti=icl

06.01.2022 What a blast our Birrung children had today with one of our incredible Mum’s, Casey from Little Fox Kits We had an amazing play dough party! We could see the excitement in the children’s eyes as they watched on as Casey set up for the morning, and once they were able to start we could see their imaginations run wild with so many creative masterpieces! Play dough never looked so good! The children even got to take home their own to play with and the fun continued on!

02.01.2022 Our Yanada children (2-3 years) have been on a big journey through their exploration of life cycles. Our learning story began with tadpoles, where we watched as they grew into frogs. We then had the opportunity to watch as butterflies emerged from their cocoons, Ducks and chickens hatching from eggs Which has now moved us onto plants, growth and propegation.... What wonderful experiences have been offered as this learning story continued to grow and develop and children were able to observe, research, hypothesise and transfer their knowledge as the educators provided many learning opportunities and extensions.
