18.01.2022 A big thank you to Mr Woodberry and all of our parent volunteers for putting on an EXCELLENT swimming carnival yesterday! Although it was a bit quieter with no spectators, our students participation (Achieve your best) was outstanding and their Consideration for others was exemplary in the way they supported and cheered for each other. Our values were well and truly on display. Well done to everyone involved!

18.01.2022 Today we celebrated the commitment from our Grade 4/5 Cooked Lunch leadership team by providing them with an afternoon tea to say a very BIG thank you for their commitment to the program. Without their help to collect and clear platters from classrooms, help transport food platters, collect up dirty dishes, dry clean dishes, set the prep tables, deliver all the food scraps to Mrs Birchall and return all the bread maker inserts (all in their own play times) we couldnt run our innovative program. We look forward to our new team of helpers in Term 4. Merrin & Amy

16.01.2022 Prep C are raising money to adopt 2 Kakapo! Kakapo are ground parrots. They could become extinct. Only 209 living birds. Every Kakapo has a name.... Kakapo live in New Zealand. They cannot fly. They weigh 4kg. They are nocturnal. They can live for up to 100 years. We have been busy making Kakapo bookmarks and badges which will be available for students to purchase for 50 cents each this Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th at morning tea time in the courtyard. Please consider supporting our mission to save the Kakapo! We have chosen to adopt Flossie and Bluster-Murphy. Check them out here : https://www.doc.govt.nz//kaka/get-involved/adopt-a-kakapo/ This project is child led - that means the children initiated the inquiry and are making many of the decisions about their learning journey (with teacher guidance). So what are they learning? They are learning some amazing facts about a very interesting bird species, but they are also learning some important skills including questioning, interviewing and researching. They are learning to understand that curiosity leads to further learning. They are tapping into their empathy and exploring concepts such as extinction, and protection.
