23.01.2022 August is Tradies National Health Month! At Camco we acknowledge that the nature of our work is challenging both physically and mentally early morning starts, hazardous and requires strong attention to detail and as such we would like to thank our employees for ongoing dedication and commitment to providing outstanding services. 35% of Australias workforce is made up of tradespeople, many of which work within the mining and resource sector, especially in WA. It is common for tradies to feel pressure to work hard and support their family. This is why recognising and supporting tradies and their mental health is just as important as supporting their physical health needs, especially through the hardships that Covid-19 has thrown at us.

22.01.2022 Well done to our team up at Wheatstone, a part of the Oil & Gas division at Camco. They were rewarded with water bottles and towels for fixing loading arms issues which were additional to the scope of work. Led by Kenny Thomas the team are on site to install new ice cages on the loading arms but have also been working on some urgent unplanned extra scope on the loading arms, which is a testament to our teams versatility and skill

22.01.2022 Today is International Youth Day! Camco also has a well-established and successful apprenticeship programme of which we are very proud. Since inception, Camco has employed apprentices at the rate of approximately 1 per 10 tradespeople each year, and in the 25 years since the business was established, is proud to have trained over 220 apprentices to trade certification. Currently there are 20 apprentices at various programme stages. Apprentices are employed mainly within the boiler making, welding, mechanical fitting and machining areas of the business and undertake a 3-monthly rotation between business units. Our apprenticeship programme is well regarded within the industry and we regularly host secondees from major resource companies, to provide practical exposure and training.

21.01.2022 Today is International Day of Friendship! At Camco Engineering we believe that in order to create an engaged and productive workplace where ideas are constructively challenged and people are encouraged to develop their capabilities, workplace friendships must be nurtured and celebrated.

21.01.2022 Say hello to our RAP Committee! Not all committee members were here for todays meeting but nonetheless we still had a productive discussion and are heading in the right direction in developing our RAP. Developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) gives Camco Engineering the best chance of achieving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement objectives, and delivering broader outcomes including:... The opportunity to become an employer of choice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A more dynamic, innovative and diverse workforce. A more culturally safe and tolerant workplace. Access to new markets and better penetration of existing markets. Better service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. The opportunity to contribute to new projects, industries, services, products and ways of doing business. At Camco Engineering our Reconciliation Action Plan journey is in its early stages, we recognise that the journey to achieving reconciliation is hard work, its a long and winding corrugated road, not a broad, paved highway. However, as a company, we are committed to make reconciliation a reality in our workplace and contribute efforts to also achieving Reconciliation in the wider community. As such Camco Engineering has engaged with Reconciliation Australia to assist in the preparation & implementation of our RAP. Reconciliation Australia support hundreds of organisations across Australia to participate in the RAP program. We will continue to work with both Reconciliation Australia and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to tailor our RAP activities to suit our organisations specific needs. This includes ensuring our current ethos of Service & Accountability is reflected in our RAP

17.01.2022 On the weekend we hosted our annual cricket and bbq day. This year we got a little bit more serious with team shirts and added competitiveness. What an awesome opportunity for us to get together with fellow colleagues outside of work, uniting workshop and office staff over some cricket and food!

16.01.2022 With the current state of the world there is no better time to unite as one as we go through some troubling times both as a country and the world as a whole. Today marks the International Day of the Worlds Indigenous Peoples and although there are tough times ahead we remain confident that we are doing our bit to ensure inclusiveness is welcomed in our workforce. Our recently endorsed Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan is a giant milestone in Camcos journey to achieving reconciliation and ensuring that our workplace relationships are based on trust and respect and that are free of racism.

15.01.2022 Pictured is the arrival of a large trommel to Camco Engineering for a major Australian iron ore miner. Due to its size Camco Engineering was one of the very few facilities in Australia that could accommodate a trommel of its magnitude. The component being machined is half of a two part assembly due for delivery on site at the beginning of June. Another win by Camco Engineering! #camcocareer #thewaywework #camcoengineering

14.01.2022 Happy WA Day long weekend! Monday stands as a day for each of us to reflect and celebrate all the great things about our people, our lifestyle, our culture and every other thing that makes us lucky to be Western Australians. WA Day in 2020 looks quite different to previous years. Although traditional WA Day festivities wont take place across the state this year, Western Australians are still able to celebrate the day, particularly in a more reflective and low key way. WAs s...uccess in fighting COVID-19 has seen restrictions put in place to control the infiltration of the virus start to reduce, allowing us West Aussies to enjoy WA Day in groups of up to 20, dine in re-opened cafs, restaurants and pubs, and travel around our beautiful state as regional borders open again. Whether its taking a trip to a country or coastal town, visiting your local park, watching the beautiful west coast sunset, or simply having family or friends over for a BBQ, there are countless ways that we can responsibly enjoy ourselves with loved ones this long weekend. The key part of this weekend is showing appreciation for all that WA offers us; lucky is an understatement. Dont forget that we can all support local and regional communities by buying WA produce, by dining at a local caf or restaurant or visiting one of WAs regional beauties which you may never have seen before. Post COVID-19 it is going to be incredibly important for Western Australians to rebuild our economy across all aspects. The Western Australian economy, like most other economies around the world, has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018 19 the Western Australian economy grew by 1 per cent and there were signs of growth in economic activity and employment in the early months of 2020, prior to the shock of COVID-19. Fortunately for Western Australia, mining industry output has been relatively unaffected to date. The Government of Western Australia has stated that: Mining accounted for 36 per cent of Western Australias gross state product in 2018 19 and accounts for the majority of the States exports and investment. The value of Western Australias merchandise exports rose 25 per cent to a record $182 billion in 2019, with iron ore exports ($96 billion) accounting for over half of the total. The mining industry will be pivotal to how the economy fares during the COVID 19 pandemic and how quickly the economy can recover. As Camco Engineering services the mining and oil and gas industries, we remain in a stable position as long as the major miners continue to operate effectively. In these times, it is integral to support WA manufacturing and business to ensure our Western Australian economy bounces back. #camcocareer #thewaywework #camcoengineering

04.01.2022 Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week. 2020s theme is "In This Together". The theme was released in 2019 and is now resonating in ways unforeseen when it was announced. However, the theme reminds us all that whether in a pandemic or in reconciliation we are all in this together. Camco Engineering supports Reconciliation Australias mission of ensuring reconciliation lives in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. #NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020

03.01.2022 Meet our apprentices! Here at Camco Engineering we appreciate the importance of training & encourage the sharing & expanding of skills for apprentices and trainees, as they are integral to the success of our industry. Our commitment to supporting the future of our industry is reflected in our engagement of apprentices and trainees across the spectrum of our operations, including machining, mechanical fitting, specialised welding and fabrication, business administration, human... resources and logistics. To date Camco has trained and qualified 225 apprentices, and currently have employment opportunities for almost 400 people. We invest a lot of time into our apprentices and want to see them achieve the best results possible, not only for our business success but for their own personal and career development. We believe it is important for our apprentices to experience and taste all aspects of work at Camco Engineering to enable them to be well-rounded, versatile tradesmen. Our apprentice rotation program allows our apprentices to rotate workshops 3 monthly, exposing them to all facets of work Camco does and giving them the opportunity to develop a vast range of skills and broaden their opportunities within the workforce. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work our apprentices have put in this year and look forward to watching them evolve into skilled tradesmen.

02.01.2022 Today some of the members of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Committee members got together to tune into Auspires Lunch with Leaders National Reconciliation Week Event. The topic of this live discussion followed the 2020 theme of In This Together. Four highly respected Aboriginal Community Leaders such as Dr Robert Isaacs AM (Aboriginal Elder and Board Member of National Australia Day Council), Dr Rishelle Hume AM (Leader in Aboriginal Engagement and Board Member ...of Auspire), Prof. Cheryl Kickett-Tucker (Founder of Kaat, Koort and Hoops and WA 2019 Local Hero) and Mr Yarlalu Thomas (Medical Student and WA 2020 Young Australian of the Year) formed part of the panel and shared their stories, thoughts and ideas on what Reconciliation means to them, specifically in terms of Culture, Understanding and Acknowledgement. The discussion was both positive and insightful and reminded us that although Reconciliation Week events expand over the course of a week, achieving Reconciliation is an ongoing project and requires the efforts of all Australians. We need to walk this journey together even though it may not be a clear or fast one. What are you doing to support Reconciliation?

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas & a Very Happy New Year, from all of us at Camco Engineering! Thank you for your contribution & commitment throughout 2019 & we look forward to another successful year. We wish you a safe and prosperous 2020.... #camcocareer #thewaywework See more
