25.01.2022 HELP PROTECT SA FROM FRUIT FLY Fruit fly outbreaks are impacting many Adelaide suburbs and some of the Riverland we need your help to protect South Australia from fruit fly. There are currently nine metropolitan outbreaks of Mediterranean fruit fly, and three outbreaks of Queensland fruit fly in South Australia’s Riverland.... We need everyone’s help to protect our backyard gardens and commercial growers. South Australia’s horticulture industry that is vulnerable to fruit fly is worth $1.3 billion, employing around 37,500 people. Every South Australian can do their part to help stop fruit fly spreading in two simple steps: 1. Learn what fruit and vegetables fruit fly like, and 2. Check the colour-coded map for your area metropolitan Adelaide or the Riverland. Red areas are outbreak areas, which means: The fruit and vegetables that fruit fly like can’t move from your property Keep fruit in the fridge rather than in a fruit bowl Fruit waste needs to be put in your green bin not composted. If you do not have a green bin service, seal in an airtight plastic bag and contact the Fruit Fly Hotline on 1300 666 010 to arrange collection. Yellow areas are suspension areas, which means: You can move fruit and vegetables that fruit fly like within the yellow area You can’t take fruit and vegetables that fruit fly like into the green area If you take fruit and vegetables that fruit fly like into a red area, you must not take it out again. Green areas are not impacted by fruit fly, and no restrictions apply within this area. With many public servants living and working in impacted areas, we are in a strong position to lead by example. Follow the steps above and share this information with your friends and family. Together, we can all help stop the spread of this pest for the protection of our valuable industry and to ensure we can enjoy home-grown fruit free from fruit fly now and in the future. For more information visit www.pir.sa.gov.au/fruitfly or phone the Fruit Fly Hotline on 1300 666 010.

25.01.2022 Are you unwell? Please stay home. We’ve all felt the urge to push through and go to work when we’re not feeling our best, but it’s just not worth the risk of spreading it to others. #stopthespread

23.01.2022 Discovering The Unique Abilities Of Young People With Asperger's

22.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Here are members of the Quarantine staff at Adelaide Hospital in 1919, and a look at the quarantine setup in Adelaide during the Spanish Fl...u outbreak. Quarantine for returned travellers looked a bit different, with a camp set up near the River Torrens. While many were keen to leave, others made the most of it with writing and poetry competitions, daily cricket and tea parties. The Spanish flu resulted in 540 deaths in South Australia, which would equate to around 15,000 in our current population. Quarantine isn’t the most fun time, but it has been crucial in keeping our COVID-19 case numbers low. Well done SA! State Library of South Australia B 60866 and PRG 1638/2/99

18.01.2022 Thank you to Dr Dharminy Thurairatnam, a Junior Doctor at Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH), for her quick thinking actions that identified the Parafield Cluster. A ...cough alerted Dr Thurairatnam to do a respiratory swab that was essential in picking up the first case as part of the cluster. If the swab wasn't taken at LMH, there would have been widespread community transmission. Dr Thurairatnam told The Advertiser: "I think every frontline worker is a hero during the pandemic." If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, even if mild, get tested as soon as possible.

18.01.2022 A huge congratulations to Charmaine and Mary for their well deserved West Torrens Council 'Community Services Award'. These ladies volunteer in the Op Shop 3 days a week and also provide food assistance to the many disadvantaged and vulnerable families who are housed in housing commission units within Camden Park and Novar Gardens. The food delivered includes bakery items, sandwiches, pies/pasties, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, eggs and soft drinks. The food is sorted, packed and delivered 3 days a week to approx. 200 families by our wonderful ladies. Many also receive assistance with donated clothing, linen, blankets, etc. through the Op Shop. These ladies certainly make a difference to people's lives! Congratulations ladies, a wonderful achievement!!!

16.01.2022 Camden’s Virtual Hawaii Travel Club With Covid still in the background making it necessary to put our monthly Travel Club on hold, we thought it was high time we had a catch up with our lovely participants. Camden hosted a fun day in the hall where we virtually travelled to Hawaii. There were palm trees, leis, grass skirts and cocktails. Judith, a travel agent, who is currently volunteering at Camden gave a presentation on Hawaii and also the effect Covid has had on the travel industry. After lunch we finished off the day with entertainment by Steve Nettle, who had everybody singing! There was even an impromptu Hula Dance! Thanks to all who made the day a huge success!

14.01.2022 Goody bags for our wonderful weekly Commonwealth Home Support Programme Social Group Members. Due to a recent Covid cluster nearby, Camden Community Centre suspended its Social Groups as at 16th November 2020. On a brighter note, it is with great pleasure that this year we were able to provide our ladies and gentlemen with an across the lawn visit and a Christmas Goody Bag. Included were some yummy treats, next year’s program and some activities to keep them busy. I’m ...sure they will find the items informative, fun and useful. The Groups will be closed over the Christmas period from 21st December 2020 until 12th January 2021. We are looking forward to celebrating the New Year with them all! The year’s end gives us time for reflection and also hope. There have been many challenges which have effected parts of the world more so than us and for this we can be most grateful and send our blessings around the globe for 2021. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and enjoyable festive season, from the CHSP Team. It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our friend and workmate, Gavin, who leaves Camden after 22 years of service to continue and develop his work in Disability Advocacy. We wish him a bright and happy future. Many thanks for your committed service Gavin!

13.01.2022 Each year, the 29th September holds a special significance for Police throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and the Solomon Islands. It is a day for police to pause to honour officers whose lives have been cut short while performing their duty as a police officer. So today is National Police Remembrance Day. To all those police men and women who continue to serve to keep our community safe - we say thank you!... National Police Remembrance Day is a time to reflect, to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

13.01.2022 Stay safe everyone

13.01.2022 March 21 is Australia's Harmony Day, which celebrates the country's cultural diversity. It coincides with the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. At Camden Community Centre we celebrate and welcome all who are part of our wonderful community!

10.01.2022 To all our Friends and Supporters , As you have heard in today's news conference from midnight tonight including Bingo , SA will stop it's activities (essenti...al only) creating a 6 day circuit breaker in a lockdown to allow us to get ahead of the Parafield Cluster and on top of covid 19. What happens after that for the next 8 days will be possibly some easing of restrictions .. depending on outcome but we will wait and see.. stay tuned. While to many of us Bingo is our life and look forward to it for many reasons including mental health and enhancing our social circles, I know the restrictions will be challenging for all us South Aussie BingoERS, but the science says if we don't go hard now the alternatives will be to go into lockdown for months at a time and nobody would want that. So, Please be kind to one another over this period especially and I'm sure if we play it safe and conquer this virus from spreading in our community, we will be back in time for Xmas party's where we can again enjoy some festivities with our families and friends. BE PATIENT, and take a breather for now , pause reflect, smell the roses... because while this may seem bitter right now the fruit will be sweet... the storm will pass.. and summer will be here. WE CAN DO THIS! Regards Anthony

Thank you for your questions and your patience in relation to the current COVID-19 Stay at Home Direction. 02.01.2022 Christmas Pageant is already here! The 88th National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will be a twilight event at Adelaide Oval on Saturday 14 November, allowing a COVID-safe crowd to attend the treasured event. Saturday, 14 November 2020... 5:00pm: Gates open (South and East Gate only, North Gate closed) 5:15pm: Pre-show 6:30pm: Welcome to Country, Premier and Emergency Services Tribute 7:00pm: Pageant Commences The ticket ballot has now closed. Please note that everyone attending this event must have a ticket. Whilst the Christmas Pageant will look a little different this year, members of the public can expect to see close monitoring by SA Police at tomorrow’s event. With 25,000 people expected to attend the Christmas Pageant at Adelaide Oval tomorrow night, members of the public are being urged to be careful on the roads, to look out for young children and to take care of themselves and others. Police will be at the event monitoring crowds and any anti-social behaviour. Police are encouraging event patrons to have fun, report any suspicious behaviour and to be vigilant with personal belongings which can easily be missed during the hype of an event. Officer in Charge, Eastern District, Superintendent Craig Wall wants families to enjoy the celebrations that tomorrow night will offer. Whilst Adelaide Oval is a familiar location for many, it is easy for children to lose orientation and stray from their parents and caregivers, particularly during the mass exit from the venue. I encourage event patrons to utilise wristbands supplied on the night and to take a photo of their child at the event to help us reunite lost children in the event that a child goes missing. Superintendent Wall also said that the event has an approved COVID-19 safe management plan but it is important that those at the event adhere to good COVID-19 safe practices. Good hygiene and social distancing is vital for those attending the event. Arrive early to avoid getting caught up in large crowds and don’t forget to bring your own hand sanitiser. Police also remind members of the public that the two best viewing spots for this event are either with a ticket at the Adelaide Oval or at home. Congregating outside the venue in hopes of hearing or seeing the event will only leave people feeling disappointed. Whilst ticket holders are able to catch free public transport to and from the venue, those driving into the city should be prepared for some delays with the southern end of War Memorial Drive being closed and speed and lane restrictions surrounding Adelaide Oval. All road users should be extra vigilant and look out for young children who can easily be unseen on the roads.

02.01.2022 Here's what you need to know about the easing of restrictions that come into effect today. Information has also been updated on the government's website: www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/ Thank you for working together with us to keep SA safe and strong
