25.01.2022 Another article from Peter Lee regarding the cessation of carriage driving activities until further notice.... 2 April 2020 Dear Members... On 15 March 2020, Federal Council announced the cessation of all carriage driving activities in Australia until 30 April 2020. At the time, we advised that Federal Council will monitor developments of COVID-19 over the next few weeks including advice from the Department of Health and the Government and will provide further advice before 30 April 2020. Since that time, the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to develop and the advice from the Department of Health and the Governments is clear to all about social distancing and stay at home other than in certain cases. As such, Federal Council wishes to advise that the cessation of carriage driving activities in Australia will be extended indefinitely. As previously advice, this relates to all activities including CDEs, dressage days, shows, pleasure and endurance drives, fun days, rallies, meetings and any other activities organised by Clubs or State Branches. Please note that it does not relate to use of technology for meetings however we recommend that any State Branches and Clubs wishing to use technology refer to the announcement on 26 March 2020 for guidelines. PETER LEE Federal President

25.01.2022 Here is some news from the ACDS & Peter Lee regarding Insurance for ACDS members, just try not to have to make a claim, the excess is $5000!!!!! 3 April 2020 Dear Members... Federal Council has been asked once again what the effect of the cessation period has on the ACDS insurance and what insurance cover a member has during this period. Nothing has changed in respect to insurance since our earlier notification on 16 March 2020. Personal accident and public liability insurance in respect to ACDS approved activities will not respond as there are no ACDS approved activities such as dressage days, CDEs, shows, pleasure drives, club rallies being undertaken. For those members working horses at home, this is not an ACDS approved activity hence the insurance cover mentioned above does not respond. The ACDS does not regulate driving at home. However, members driving at home are covered by the ACDS 24/7 Public Liability and Personal Accident insurance as set out below: The following is an extract from the Insurance questions and answers on the ACDS website. Q. Who is covered by the ACDS 24/7 Public Liability and Personal Accident insurance? A. ACDS Single, Family, Junior and Life members engaged in non-income earning carriage driving related activities outside of ACDS sanctioned events -specifically: at home or when training. Q. What is the excess payable for a claim against the ACDS 24/7 Public Liability Policy? A. For a claim arising outside of a sanctioned ACDS activity, the excess payable by the ACDS Member is $5000. PETER LEE Federal President

16.01.2022 Subject: Hills Activity Day Sunday July 26 2020 OFF Dear Hills members and friends As things haven't improved re the spread of the virus, the Hills ... Committee has decided to cancel Sunday's event at Rossmore. Thank you to all those who planned to come and support the day. I'm sorry it's come to this, but it was certainly on the cards. The Challenge Day on August 9 will possibly be postponed to later in the year, as the situation is unlikely to improve in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know as soon as possible about a decision on the Challenge Day. Hopefully our event in September might still be a goer - who knows.

03.01.2022 PONY SHOW SULKY FOR SALE Suit 12.2 14hh Fully restored. Burgundy in colour. Brass furniture and leather upholstery. Currently has white rubber tyres. The replaced back rubber tyres are also available for sale. Has a dicky seat. Has been successfully shown at the Sydney Royal.... History: The sulky was listed as an 1800s sulky at a Clearing sale on May 23 2009 on behalf of Mr Paris Osborne of Dunmore House, Largs. Although stored out of the weather, the timber had been completely destroyed by woodworm. We were referred to a previous owner who kindly supplied us with the history of the sulky and its association with Dunmore house, which is near Largs in the lower Hunter Valley. Her great grandfather John Graham was born at Dunmore House in 1844 and the property was purchased by him about 1900. The sulky was one of three or four. It was used by her great grandfather and her grandfather (also John Graham), and had a gentle life being driven from Dunmore to Clifton, Morpeth and Maitland.(See John Graham J.P. Whos Who in Australia 1929). We had the sulky fully restored by Clint Jones of Glenorie. The timbers used in the restoration were kauri, hickory, tulipwood and American ash. The leather upholstery was done by Mark Burton of Canberra and the burgundy paintwork and lining was the work of Jeff Hicks from Brisbane. PRICE: $4,500 (would also consider part exchange for viceroy in good condition) View at Mount White (NSW Central Coast). Genuine enquirers please. Barbara Smith ph 02 4377 1196 or [email protected]
