24.01.2022 At our Wingham Show Society meeting held last night, the difficult decision was made to cancel our 2021 Annual show. Please read through the attached media release. Thank you to everyone for your support and we look forward to our bigger and better 2022 show.

24.01.2022 An easy breakfast idea when camping. Eggs in Jail Ingredients: ... Thickly sliced bread (brioche bread works a treat) eggs butter Method: Butter the bread slices, both sides. Cut a hole in the middle of the bread that can accommodate a cracked egg, about 10cm. In a greased fry pan, which is already hot and sizzling, place the bread. Put another knob of butter in the hole in the middle of the bread, and then crack 1 egg into the hole. Cook, until the bread, is golden on the bottom, and then CAREFULLY, using a wide spatula, flip egg/bread combo and brown the other side of the bread. How you like your eggs will determine how long you cook each side. Season according to your taste.

19.01.2022 World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. This day, celebrated on November 13 of each year, has the purpose to help everyone understand that compassion for others is what binds us all together. This understanding has the power to bridge the gap between community and nations.

13.01.2022 There is a lot you can do after a traumatic experience. For You. Recovering from trauma doesn’t mean forgetting your experience or not feeling any emotional pain when reminded of the event. Recovery means becoming less distressed and having more confidence in your ability to cope as time goes on.... To help yourself recover, try some of the ideas below. Even if you don’t feel like doing these things, they might help you to come to terms with the trauma and reduce some of the distress associated with it. Recognise that you have been through an extremely stressful event and it is normal to have an emotional reaction to it. Give yourself permission to feel rotten, but also remember your strengths. Even though it’s tough, you can deal with it. Look after yourself by getting plenty of rest (even if you can’t sleep) and regular exercise. Eat regular, well-balanced meals. Physical and mental health are closely linked, so taking care of one will help the other. Click here for more..... https://www.phoenixaustralia.org/recovery/helping-yourself/

08.01.2022 VANDALISM AT THE SHOWGROUND As a community we should be appalled at this behaviour. The board have worked tirelessly to have the showground amenities revamped and reopened for camping and user groups. This morning the cleaner attended the grounds and found the amenities block had been vandalised. This incident has been reported to police along with footage. If anyone has any further information please contact Laurieton Police.

07.01.2022 It should be show week and we would usually be preparing the grounds for our 72nd Camden Haven Show, but you have probably noticed that there hasn’t been any spruiking this year. In the interest of everyone’s safety; yours, ours, our volunteers and supporters and our wider community, the 2020 Camden Haven Show was cancelled due to Covid 19. Don’t panic, we will be back bigger and better in 2021. We’re all working behind the scenes with facility upgrades, maintenance and planning. We want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over previous years, and your understanding of the current situation. Trust us, we love a good show as much as all of you do! We look forward to hosting you all in 2021. Until then, stay safe and stay well.

04.01.2022 ISOLATION RISK FOR PARTS OF THR MID NORTH COAST Towns are facing isolation in the coming days as dangerous floodwaters swamp roads and bridges around #Tar...ee, #Wauchope, #Wingham and #Laurieton. Persistent rain combined with recent storms has filled already saturated rivers and creeks, causing some communities to be cut off around the Manning, Lansdowne, Hastings and Camden Haven catchments. NSW SES Northern Zone Commander Chief Superintendent Steve Patterson says that it’s not over yet with the possibility that rivers and other watercourses might rise rapidly over the coming days. This means that there’s the chance roads and bridges could be flooded, but also areas next to rivers such as camping grounds, said Chief Superintendent Patterson. Both residents and holiday-makers must be aware of the area that they’re staying in and know their flood risk. Most importantly, never drive, walk or ride through floodwater. You put yourself and your family at risk, not to mention the NSW SES volunteers and other emergency service personnel who have to come to your rescue. The NSW State Emergency Service is advising that: If your property is at risk of inundation, please raise moveable items, such as furniture, as high as possible onto benches or tables, placing electrical items on top. If you live in a low-lying area and are advised by an emergency services officer to evacuate, please do so. Secure outside belongings and before leaving; turn off the power, water and take essential medicines and clothes with you. Consider the impact of possible road closures and flood isolation on (health and safety), work, family, and educational commitments. Monitor emergency warnings and severe weather updates on local ABC radio, NSW SES Mid North Coast Facebook Page and Bureau of Meteorology website For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW SES on 132 500. In life-threatening emergencies, ring Triple Zero (000). Media enquiries: NSW SES Media 1800 067 234
