23.01.2022 **CORONAVIRUS PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT SOUTH-WEST SYDNEY** NSW Health Statement: The discovery of COVID-19 virus fragments in sewage at a treatment plant in Glenfi...eld in south western Sydney has prompted renewed calls for residents to get tested. Latest: https://7news.link/2JbqMWz The virus fragments were detected through the state’s ongoing sewage surveillance program. Detection of the virus in sewage samples could reflect the presence of known cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in recent weeks in the area served by this sewage treatment plant. However, NSW Health is concerned there could be other active cases in the local community in people who have not been tested and who might incorrectly assume their symptoms are just a cold. The area served by the treatment plant includes the suburbs of Airds, Ambarvale, Appin, Bardia, Blair Athol, Blairmount, Bow Bowing, Bradbury, Campbelltown, Casula, Claymore, Eagle Vale, Englorie Park, Eschol Park, Glen Alpine, Glenfield, Ingleburn, Kearns, Leumeah, Macquarie Fields, Macquarie Links, Menangle Park, Minto, Raby, Rosemeadow, Ruse, St Andrews, St Helens Park, Varroville and Woodbine. People in these areas must be aware of any symptoms of illness, and immediately isolate and get tested should even the mildest of symptoms appear that might appear to be just be a cold. Symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, tiredness, fever or other symptoms could be COVID-19. After testing, you must remain in isolation until a negative result is received. The only way to find new cases and prevent further transmission is to increase testing. There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. Some of the closest testing clinics to Glenfield include: Campbelltown Hospital, Therry Road, Campbelltown, 8.00am-6.30pm, seven days a week Oran Park Pop-up Clinic, Julia Reserve Community Centre, Peter Brock Drive, Oran Park, 8.00am-6.30pm, seven days a week Prestons Drive-through Clinic, Ash Road, Ash Road Sporting Complex, Prestons, 8.00am-6.30pm, seven days a week. Sewage testing for genetic material of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, started in July, adding another tool in the fight against the global pandemic. There is no evidence COVID is transmitted via wastewater systems. #Coronavirus #7NEWS

16.01.2022 We all knew it! Curry Reserve has been named Australia’s best park for 2020! Curry Reserve is a fully inclusive space where everyone, no matter what age or a...bility, can have fun and play. Super proud of this space!! It’s inception was back in late 2016 (when my daughter was just a baby!) and was opened in Dec 2018. Due to its popularity, extra BBQs, covered picnic tables, chairs, shade & pathways were added last year. A place where wonderful memories are made Congratulations to all involved in creating this beautiful facility.
16.01.2022 The dams are overflowing and the rivers are full again. We had 130 ml [edit at 4pm: make that more than 150ml!] in just over 48 hours. Good news for farmers and gardeners, but a number of local roads have also been cut, so it's a good idea to check council websites before heading out.

13.01.2022 The first Pfizer #COVID19 vaccine doses have just arrived in Australia and we’re stepping up our fight against this pandemic. More than 142,000 doses of the vac...cine arrived at Sydney Airport earlier today and we’re on track to start vaccinating the first Australians from next Monday 22 February. This Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was recently approved for use in Australia under the rigorous processes of our world-class independent safety regulator, the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Our own experts have found this vaccine to be safe, effective and manufactured to a high standard. These doses that arrived today are the first shipment of the 20 million doses the Australian Government has secured. They will now undergo further comprehensive batch testing by the TGA to ensure each batch meets Australia’s strict quality standards. That’s because our number one priority is safety, safety, safety. Once the final safety checks are completed, we can start rolling out the vaccine to those most in need of protection first, based on expert medical advice. The first phase focuses on our quarantine and border workers, frontline healthcare workers and aged care and disability care residents and staff. While we’re taking the time to get the rollout right, I am confident all Australians who wish to be vaccinated against COVID-19 will receive a vaccine this year. For more info on our #COVID19 vaccine program visit: www.health.gov.au/covid19-vaccines

02.01.2022 Facebook's actions to unfriend Australia today, cutting off essential information services on health and emergency services, were as arrogant as they were disap...pointing. I am in regular contact with the leaders of other nations on these issues. These actions will only confirm the concerns that an increasing number of countries are expressing about the behaviour of BigTech companies who think they are bigger than governments and that the rules should not apply to them. They may be changing the world, but that doesn’t mean they run it. We will not be intimidated by BigTech seeking to pressure our Parliament as it votes on our important News Media Bargaining Code. Just as we weren’t intimidated when Amazon threatened to leave the country and when Australia drew other nations together to combat the publishing of terrorist content on social media platforms. I encourage Facebook to constructively work with the Australian Government, as Google recently demonstrated in good faith.

01.01.2022 NSW Health is calling on people in the Hawkesbury and South Western Sydney areas to get tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms after the state’s sewage surveilla...nce program detected traces of the virus at two treatment plants. In South Western Sydney, NSW Health is looking closely at the suburbs of Belimba Park, Bickley Vale, Bow Bowing, Brownlow Hill, Camden, Camden Park, Camden South, Carrington Park, Catherine Field, Cawdor, Cobbitty, Currans Hill, Elderslie, Ellis Lane, Gledswood Hills, Glenmore, Grasmere, Gregory Hills, Harrington Park, Kirkham, Mount Annan, Mount Hunter, Minto, Minto DC, Minto Heights, Narellan, Narellan DC, Narellan Vale, Nattai, Orangeville, Oran Park, Raby, Rossmore, Spring Farm, St Andrews, Smeaton Grange, The Oaks and Varroville. Areas of interest in the Hawkesbury include Agnes Banks, Bowen Mountain, Grose Vale, Grose Wold, Hobartville, Londonderry, North Richmond, Richmond, Richmond Lowlands, Tennyson, The Slopes and Yarramundi. The closest testing clinics to West Camden are: Camden Hospital, 61 Menangle Rd Camden, 8.00am-6.00pm, seven days a week 14 Queen Street Narellan, 8.50am-5.00pm, Monday to Friday. The closest clinics to North Richmond are: Regatta Centre Drive-through, Sydney International Regatta Centre (enter via Gate B, Old Castlereagh Road, Castlereagh), 9.00am-12:30pm and 1.00- 4.00pm, seven days a week Penrith Drive-through Clinic, Club Paceway (enter via Ransley St, off Mulgoa Road), 9.00am-4.00pm, seven days a week. Finding traces of the virus in sewage samples could mean there were active cases nearby. It can also mean there are recently recovered cases, as people who have previously been infected can continue to ‘shed’ virus fragments into the sewage system for up to four weeks after they have recovered. The most recent cases in the West Camden catchment were reported in September, but no one living in the North Richmond catchment had recently tested positive for COVID-19. For more information on the NSW Sewage Surveillance Program, visit: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//c/Pages/weekly-reports.aspx It’s vital we all continue to maintain physical distancing and keep up good hand hygiene, and anyone who is feeling unwell isolates and gets tested without delay. A full list of COVID-19 testing clinics in your area can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics, or call your GP.
