14.01.2022 Hold all tickets: Collectors postponed A press release today from the Office of the Prime Minister has announced a #ban on public gatherings greater than 500... people from Monday, affecting a multitude of public events including Collectors Plant Fair 2020. As a result we will #postpone the fair until advice from Health Australia allows us to proceed. This decision does not come easy to Linda or myself. We are sincerely grateful for the gargantuan effort from hundreds our trusted stall holders and growers. We know how this impacts you, your families, your travel plans and your beautiful plants. We know the effort you have made over the last year to grow plants just for us! We are sincerely disappointed and frustrated too. We also understand how you, our plant-lovers are impacted, we share your disappointment with you that the best weekend of the year has to wait until the ban is lifted. Unfortunately there is no other way. The media release also announced that "a new National Cabinet, made up of the Prime Minister, Premiers and Chief Ministers has been set up and will meet at least weekly to address the countrys response to the coronavirus, COVID-19." Further details will be discussed in a meeting on Sunday between the National Cabinet and the AHPPC, after-which we hope more information will come to light that may inform our future plans. We will watch closely for developments. Collectors Plant Fair will #honour all #valid tickets already purchased when the event is clear to run. We will advise of the date at the earliest possible opportunity. Keep an eye on our Facebook posts for updates in the meantime. This is the Apoliu Declaration, a world first initiative adopted by the International Camellia Society aimed at promoting the conservation of Ancient Indigenous Camellia Trees and Historic Ornamental Camellia Trees worldwide. The Declaration includes awards for historic ornamental camellia trees and Australian gardens will be among the first recipients. Significantly the Declaration includes history and culture to promote conservation of ornamental trees of this kind - a new approach. 07.01.2022 Our 10th annual Autumn Open Gardens and Plant Fair on 18 and 19 April has been cancelled due to the current Covid-19 crisis. We regret that it has been necessar...y to cancel the weekend event however the health and safety of patrons and our supporters is our primary responsibility. We thank the garden owners who have worked tirelessly over the past year bringing their gardens to their full potential for visitors and we are very grateful for their support. Although the Plant Fair has been cancelled, we continue to have our own plant stock for sale through our retail nursery which will continue to open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 12noon. It is planned to reschedule the open garden and plant fair event as soon as practical so please check www.shbg.com.au for details. 06.01.2022 My C. nitidissima was bought from Camellia Grove in the 1990s. It is now at least 5m high and 7m in diameter. To really see the flowers which hang downwards, I have to crawl underneath. Photos include my cat Tigger, and some fallen pink Fashionata blooms too.

03.01.2022 WONDERFUL WORLD OF CAMELLIAS The 2020 camellia season is fast approaching. At the nursery we are in full propagation mode . So far we have done about 25,000 cuttings and we have still got lots more to do, actually thousands more to do.... We are also getting this seasons camellias ready for sale. We are very happy with our beautiful stock that we have for sale now. Autumn to winter flowering sasanquas will be blooming from March to June, great as a hedge. There is a sasanqua for any size hedge. Winter to spring flowering Japonicas will be blooming from July to September, great as a specimen bush, The Winter Queen , she flowers when not much else does. Not forgetting the hybrids, species, higos, and miniature flowering all put on a show of beautiful flowers as well. REMEMBER TO PLANT A CAMELLIA TO FEED THE BEES Also check out where we will be showing and selling this year, come and see our beautiful camellias.
